Post by: Wheelhorseracer on January 31, 2008, 08:24:07 pm: I just bought a racer from last year from a fellow racer... and it has a MV18 Magnum engine..

I know a lot about the K-series engines but not too much about the opposed engines...

Anyone else running this?... wow.. what a heavy engine...

Post by: CaseRacer969 on January 31, 2008, 08:38:53 pm: I don't race one yet but I have one in the shop and I was looking at for C/P. With m-20 crank it 47 inches. With the cast iron removable jugs it could bored quite a bit and wouldn't have to be sleeved.

I will probably just do a valve job, and check the heads for flatness..

But I might swap the non-adjustable Walbro carb for an adjustable Kohler #26 carb I have.. just so I can better control of the mixture...

I think the Walbro might be a #30...

Post by: mightymowe on February 03, 2008, 03:51:04 pm: The smallest part is commonly reffered to as the venturi,and the smallest part is the part determines how much air is going to pass through the carb.The size of the jet determines how much fuel the engine gets and there is only one optimum mixture ratio,I believe it is 14 parts air to 1 part fuel.Each carb and engine combo will require a specific jet size for the amount of air it is getting,and that changes with air density as well.
