Anyone know if the black metal shroud off a 12hp vanny will fit 35ci 18hp vanny withe the red metal shroud?? My shroud is mangled and the other is for sale online so i do not have it side by side to compare.

Ohhhh ok!! I was under the ASSUMPTION that the 38 head had a bigger combustion chamber. Also i have not tore down the vanguard yet and had ASSUMED it had flat tops like the Inteks i had dealt with. Thank you very much. Oh one more thing is the ARC rod i need to use with the intek piston factory 35 length or slightly longer?

Did some searchs on here and read alot of posts but still a little confused.

Question 1- if i take a vanny 35 and add 38 heads i gain bigger valves and ports but lose some compression. Correct?

Question 2- if i bore the 35 out to use an intek 40 piston ( standard 40 bore) and ARC rod and zero deck the block i will be back to an "acceptable" compression ratio with the 38 heads?

Question 3- if i do all this then basically i have a "stock" 38 with a better rod?

I said this same thing on a post yesterday it was.....say NO to stock wheels!!!  I read here many times NOT to use them, did so anyways.....doing so cost me a new tire, frontend repair, and a destroyed freshly painted JD fiberglass hood...oh and my pride took a major beating... :bash: Just my 2 cents!! :D

Found a craftsman mower with a 15hp kohler for sale complete mower...bad starter. Havent seen it in person yet so dont have any engine id numbers yet. Anyone care to guess what it is exactly and if it has any potential? Will post engine numbers later when i check it out in person.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: adjustable push rods vanguard
« on: June 10, 2014, 10:43:33 pm »
I have never done it on a mower but have on car engines.  Take an old push rod and cut it about an inch below the tip on one end. Take the long piece and cut an inch off it. Tap the long piece, tap the short piece that has the tip attached. Now use a piece off all thread or something like it to attach the 2 pieces. Install it and adjust it longer or shorter to find the right length pushrod you need. Once your valvetrain geometry is correct you can uninstall it to measure what length push rods you need. Cut to length pushrods just use your measurement and subtract it from the cut to length rod taking in account the length of the tip that will be sticking out. Use sharp tubbing cutters to cut it,lightly deburr it inside and out and then push in tips. If i left anything out chime in guys.
While i have heard of adjustable pushrods that can be used in a running engine the idea seems a little hokie to me plus it seems like you would be adding unneeded weight to the valvetrain.

Thanks guys. Upon further checking i missed the obvious....one is instore only which i think is the redesigned model and of the other 2 on is California approved. I fgure it has a leaner carb tune. Think ill go with the 69730 model. Any thoughts guys?

Honda and Clone Engines / Harbor Freight Predator Engines

Well the Tecumseh died on the kids gokart....trash in the carb lead to gas in the oil which leads to my wallet getting thinner. Looking at the 6.5 Predators and i see Harbor Freight has 3 6.5s with different model numbers. I am looking at them online and will order them online and i dont see a difference between them. Which one to get? The engine will be ran bone stock on a kids gokart. Any help would be great in making a choice. Thanks!!
