USLMRA Races / Another PALMRA race cancellation......
« on: October 15, 2011, 01:17:19 pm »
PALMRA's Fawn Grove events are canceled for Sunday, October 16 2011.  With the weather that moved through the area on Friday and Saturday, the track is in no condition to race.  We also wanted to make a decision early enough for those that have to travel in could make other plans.

There is another option for racing in the area that is neaither PALMRA or USLMRA sanctioned.  Visit www.HEYMOW.com for info concerning that race.

Please plan to be at the Awards Banquet, we will see you there.

Chassis / Re: new build
« on: October 13, 2011, 09:26:08 pm »
Like Russ said, print out the rule book, have it arms reach anytime you are working on your racer!
Next, print out the build clinic book.  This will help answer some of your questions.  It covers everything from brakes, to steering, and transmissions to jack shafts.
You sound like you are going in the direction of our CPR class.  The rules are also on the site.  This is a great class build for as it uses a stock engine.  You will be able to focus on your handling, gearing and driving techniques, you are welcome to stay in the class, or upgrade the engine so it may fit into a few different ungoverned classes.

www.PALMRA.com  and click on the "Build Clinic" button on the bottom of the page!

We will be here to help also.
Good Luck with your build,
Dean Jr.

Coffee Shop / Re: need help with scoring
« on: October 12, 2011, 09:17:41 pm »
PALMRA is scored the old fashioned way, pencil and paper.  Missing races would affect your end of year points totals, but this would only be a problem if you are chasing points.  We have lots of members who make it to the races they can, and miss the ones they can't.  No big deal!  It also does not affect your membership.  Any races you can make is a plus, those you can't attend is no big deal.  We would love to have you at any races you can attend.

Non-Affiliated Races / PA event 10/15/11
« on: October 11, 2011, 09:36:29 pm »
There is an AMA motorcycle race this Saturday in Lampeter PA in southern Lancaster County, that has requested lawn mower racing during their intermission.  This is a flat dirt track that is well prepared.  I do not know the size.  If you are interested in racing at this event we are looking for 10 to 12 racers.  We will accept racers in any classes recognized by the USLMRA or ARMA.  Please contact me for more info and to confirm your spot.  This is a first come first serve.  My email is dtschopf2003@yahoo.com  I need to know by Thursday if you can make it.  Sorry for the short notice.

USLMRA Races / PALMRA Awards Banquet Info
« on: October 11, 2011, 09:26:39 pm »
Its hard to believe another season of lawn mower racing is coming to a close, but it is here.  With one more race remaining on the schedule, its not to soon to start thinking about the Annual PALMRA Awards Banquet.  This years banquet will be hosted by Dan and Tracy Frantz in Seven Valleys, PA.  We would like to invite all PALMRA racers and their families and friends, any one who has volunteered at PALMRA events, or anyone thinking about getting involved in our sport.  We would also like to invite our friends from DELMRAVA to come and enjoy some good food, share a few racing stories, and if you have any awards to be handed out, feel free to share our "stage".

PALMRA will provide hamburgers in a tomato sauce with hamburger buns and drinks for the evening.  We ask each family to also bring a covered dish or dessert as well.  Electric will be available for crockpots or any other device that may be needed.

Also keep in mind the special awards voting.  The guidelines for voting can be found on our website by clicking on the "Build Book" button all the way at the bottom of the page.  Drivers qualifying for the "Rookie of the Year Award" can be found on the points page.

To reserve your seats, and vote for the special rewards recipients, please contact Dean Schopf Jr. at dtschopf2003@yahoo.com or call at (717)324-5756.

The address and times can be found at www.PALMRA.com along with guidelines for special awards voting.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me through the sources listed above.

Hope to see you all there,

So we head to Fawn Grove for the season ender!  There are many classes where the top spots can still change hands, championships will come down to the final race!  Thanks to all the racers who came north from MD, and to the PALMRA regulars who traveled from NJ.  We appriciate the support from everyone.

See you in Fawn Grove,

Hey Joey,
The potato skins in the gas tank worked.
I do not endorse for sabotage, but since Joey brought it up, and it worked, I'll blame him!

Flipper, Sorry you missed it, but I was able to take advantage! :P

USLMRA Races / Fawn Grove Fall Show results
« on: September 26, 2011, 09:50:02 pm »
First thing is a big thank you to those who worked in the mud on Saturday to prepare a great track for Sunday.  Second, thanks for all those who came out to race on Sunday.  After losing the first day of the double header in Fawn Grove, Sunday turned out to be a great day of racing!  As one person put it, it was the driest rainy day they ever saw.  The plan for the weekend was to race two features each day.  We were able to race two features on Sunday that will be scored as two different events.

The first feature events results are.......

Overall it was a good day of racing for everyone.  The track was very tacky, and the reason for most of the DNFs and DNSs were do to belt burning problems.  That problem made the name of game for the second feature was making your equipment last.

Ashley is doing fine, two large bruises, but ready to go again.  She was most upset about the visor being broke off of her helmet!

PALMRAs next race is October 9 at Williams Grove.  The race info will soon be posted!

Thanks again to the racers for supporting a weather shortened weekend!

Hey Joey,
My family won't be able to make the OCT 2 race.  Tammy, myself and dad are going to DOVER DE to watch some NASCAR.  Its a family trip that we take every year, and I'm looking forward to it.  As far as the potato, Tom would still find a way to win, the spud would probably make the oppy run better and thats the last thing we need.  Now I have heard sugar in the gas tank does neat things to a carb! :woo:   HHHHHhHMMMMM

USLMRA Races / Re: PALMRA's Doubleheader race weekend........
« on: September 24, 2011, 09:45:36 pm »
As of right now at 9:38 PM there is no rain on the weather map in York County.  The forcast has a 30% chance over night, and scattered showers on Sunday.
For now all of Sunday's racing events are as planned.  This could be a huge points day for anyone who comes out to race.
See you at the track,
Dean Jr.

USLMRA - my apologies, nothing harsh meant by the post, just a little fun ribbing.  I am patiently waiting for the 2012 rulebook.  Thanks to Bruce and the USLMRA staff for all the hard work you do.
For now, PALMRA still has a few more races to get completed, if mother nature allows.  The CPR points battle is tight, and I am still hoping to get a check mark in the win column.  There is just that pesky Mighty 580 thats in the way!  See you on the track Tom!

PALMRA has a rule that if a driver were caught cheating, they would forfeit their CPR points and would have to register with the CP class for the remainder of the season.  Thankfully we have not had to enforce the rule to this point.
Tom and I new form the inception of the class that there would be those who do not wish to race in this class, and that is fine.  But for those who do, it is a blast!

COME ON USLMRA, what are you guys waiting for.  Make the announcement already!  >:D ;)
