Coffee Shop / mower handling
« on: October 02, 2012, 11:29:40 am »
Ok I agree that a good handling mower not only can but will help you win races!
Especially over mishandling mower! But that being said!
If you have 2 equal handling mowers and good drivers one has lots more hp
Sooner or later there’s going to be a drag race and guess what HP wins that battle! I, ve seen not so good mowers win with good driver just because they could run the straights faster! And didn’t over drive! Having more HP can really make up the difference!
For instance at out track we have one mower that handles real well! prob making 30hp, the other mower prob putting out twice that! While tap times are close the one with the hp wins 90% of the times!
Why he doesn’t over drive prob only uses ½ to2/3 hp! But usually can pull 2-3 lengths down straights on our 90’ straights unless track gets really dry!
Seen it many times, it really takes a complete package mower(set up), driver and engine! To win!
So in the end give me enough HP to win the drag race! And a good handling mower!

Ok thinking of building an engine for our Pro class its a flathead!
We are alowed to mod the ports and intake, anyhead mods as long as it starts out a stock head!
Internal parts must all manufactures parts arc dog bone only
Carb must remain stock bore can remove the choke!
And must run a stock cam
So my ? Is how wild should I port!
Would you still port as wild as say a cam with 430 lift?
