Hey Chris.  I race in Minnesota.  If you look up the MNLMRA on Facebook, you can find out when our races are.  Most people are more than willing to answer any questions you might have.  If you can make it to a race and look over the machines it would definitely help you out on your build.

Spark Plugs.  I found out the hard way last season.  I had one that must have been cracked.  Thank goodness someone else had on for me.
I also started carrying and extra start pushbutton and tether kill switch.  Never needed one yet, but saw someone that needed a kill switch and didn't have one, so I had a spare the next race.

We have a lot of races set up for this year.  Look up on Minnesota lawn mower racing association(MNLMRA) on Facebook or Yahoo groups. There are lots of good people who will be happy to get you going.  Where are you from in Minnesota?

Briggs Flathead / Briggs 10HP
« on: March 23, 2014, 02:14:04 am »
I am looking for some briggs info.  I currently have a briggs engine on AP.  It is a 10HP, Model 255707-0125-02. I am looking for a spare and found this on Craigslist.  Model #254707-0119-01.  I want something my billet flywheel will fit on.  I had to have the hub milled down, so I want a direct swap.  Can anyone tell me if these two are direct replacements?  thanks a lot in advance.

Yes, I have a briggs 10 HP on my AP, and I'm not sure what else my billet flywheel will fit on.  I am looking for the same type that I currently have.

Thanks alot for the info.  I was looking for an engine to match the Briggs 10hp I have so I could have a spare.  I stopped and looked at this one, and couldn't see anywhere what brand it was-it just said Craftsman.  It did not look exactly like my briggs, so I had to pass.  The cross reference will be handy to have.
Thanks again,
Jeff

I found a Craftsman 10 HP on Craigslist, but was hoping for more info before I drive to look at it.  The guy that has it for sale didn't seem to know much about it.  He gave me some numbers he found on it, and I was wondering if anyone would know the make, age, or if it is a flathead or otherwise.  The numbers he gave me are 143951010 and DOM 5031R.  If anyone has any info, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,

My Mom is in Deadwood right now.  I hope she got to see some snow.  I myself can wait quite a while.  It will be here in Minnesota soon enough.

My daughter had this same thing last year.  My nephew in California and my niece who is in the Air Force got the word out for me to their friends.  The response was amazing.  We got post cards from all over the world, from countries I never even heard of.  If you need one from Minnesoooota, send me a PM and I will try to help.

Hey Oldiron, I am in New Ulm, MN.  If there is anything I can help with to get you started let me know.  I have a GP and an AP that I race.  Check out the Minnesota lawn mower racing association (MNLMRA) website or look us up on Yahoo Groups or Facebook to see what we have going on.  If you are up for a bit of a drive, there is a race at Hawks Bar in Monticello, MN this Saturday where you could get some info from some of our members.

I may bring my small (14 foot) toyhauler,  or a small open trailer and tent, or an enclosed trailer if I by one by then.  Which ever I end up bringing, I shouldn't require too much real estate
Thanks,
Jeff

Is it possible to reserve a camping spot at the racetrack ahead of time, and if so, you would you contact?
Thanks

But, if you change the air cleaner, doesn't have to be a direct factory replacement?

Well, we had more snow here in minnesooooota, but on the other hand, it's Friday, the boss is gone, and I just picket up some parts for my mower.  It's working it's way toward wonderful.

If you can't get enough of them now, just wait till you race one.
