As was said a few post back charging a battery to fast will make it boil. Also a bad cell will make one boil even when it checks good! As for putting a full size battery in a racing lawn mower it will cost you a place or two at the finsh line because of the weight. You can buy a lawn mower battery with enough CCA's to crank a car/tractor. but they cost thats what I run in my racers with no starting problem's.

You may have Idle to high. If it's to high it makes one very hard to start. Remember Walbro's as well as other carb's are vaccum operated. If trottle partly open no cold start!

Rod bolts should be replaced at every application! But have got by with out it several times. when you retorqe the rod both you should be able to tell if there strechted! Be your own judge about the situation.

I've been running a comet clutch rated at 10hp. Has a 4 inch pulley a big roller bearing in it! I run it the whole 06 season in the FX class bothed on a 12hp B&S highly modifided billet all the way ect. hasn't even changed colors. bought it at our local car quest part house but way pricey! Going with 14.5 B&S this year build up alot better than my 12. don't think I'll have no trouble out of it!
