Briggs Flathead / Quick governor question

I have a 13hp flathead briggs and it raises the idle then drops. i am pretty sure its not from the carb because the governor arm that comes out of the motor and is connected to the governor spring  moves back and forth when the throttle is all the way down. What can cause this?

I have a 14hp carb off of a 14hp OHV briggs, i am thinking of putting it on my 12.5 briggs for more fuel delivery.... question is will it flood the motor out?

Driveline / confused again.

Got my 600 back together and installed. Went for a ride did fine. Put my new exhaust on and went out for a ride. I was in third and downshifted into 2mnd. It would not move. I went through every gear and it just goes in gear and stays there. What can cause this?

So i got my peerless 600 all in, got everything hooked up and it goes into 1st,3rd,and reverse but not 2nd gear... what can cause this?
Oh by the way it goes "into" all of the gears. only 1st,3rd, and reverse "work" though.

Driveline / Steel pulleys.

I am wanting to try out steel pulleys instead of the cheapo ones my hardware store sells. I need a 4" one for a 5/8" shaft. I looked at acmemowersports but its close to 15$ for shipping. Let me know where you guys buy them! I searched the site and didn't find anything..

Driveline / My peerless 600.

Got this from my grandfathers yard. Not to bad of shape, but there is something i am concerned about. The axle shaft is like reamed out. I got a picture of it, should i buy a new one? Here is a picture of what i am talking about.


Also, i think its a peerless 601-020 like the tag says but when i go to the parts manual its just 600-601.. someone help me out. Here is a pic of that-

My mom got these from the dump in VT. She always looks for this kind of stuff. So who here runs quad tires? I'm thinking of running these on my woods mower since there like brand new. I just need to find a rim for them here are some pics!

I have a peice of 1/4" steel plate. 6 1/2" wide and almost 3 feet long. My question is will a 6 1/2" wide peice be strong enough for the 700 tranny or should it be wider...

Well i tore apart my 600 tonight. I need a diagram of what gears go where because i can't remember exactly how to put it back together. I can do it but itd be nice if i knew i was doing it right, thanks.

I am getting a peerless 600 tomorow! Gramps had it in the yard with a bunch of other stuff. I was gonna take the whole tractor ( dynamark) but the steering is shot. So now i just gotta find me somtim to put her in!

I should take the governor out of my 11hp briggs while it is opened up to put new rings in it.. if i do, what is the best way to remove the governor?
