I have a 16 hp single with smart spark. I need to wire it. I put switch to red wire from under shroud with 12 volts going to it and used white as kill as thats what I was advised by someone else. It has no spark even after unpluging the new wires still nothing. this was a running motor prior to build. Its for a Modxr by the way. Any Ideas?

Driveline / puzzled
« on: October 30, 2010, 10:28:05 pm »
ok I am taking a sportsman tractor and making it an 8:1 ratio. The sportsman had a locked transaxle and I adjusted rear pully to 8:1 ratio and got on and it went to fast. I fooled with it for a while and then put another transaxle in with an open diff adjusted that to 8:1 and it went fine so I'm wondering why the same model transaxle (4 speed foote's) acts this way. This is the forth one I have done and never had  a problem before. But this was the first transaxle that was locked. Is there some kind of gearing in the spiders that make this differance?

Driveline / help getting 8:1 final ratio
« on: July 27, 2010, 07:45:21 pm »
We are starting a new prepared class for the kids and ladies at our track. We are doing the 8:1 ratio for final drive ratio. I have come up with about 6.75:1 on transaxle ratio for 5th gear. And this means I have two pulleys that are pretty close in size to get my 8:1 ratio. What is everyone else running for pulley sizes if you don't mind me asking. This shouldn't be a big secret I don't think given nobody has a gear advantage in the class. Thanks this is my first question here after hanging around for a long time. we have built a few machines from just reading other post for last year or so. You guys are a great pit crew here.
