« on: July 13, 2010, 08:46:39 am »
I have not Seen Anything posted about this race from this past Sunday. I would like to thank everybody that put on a great show. Manny torres and Bruce Kaufman did a good job once again running this event. We had mowers from a local ARMA group join us as well and even had Transponders this year! Just wanted to say thanks!

(MarkieMark)- Sorry again about the last lap pass! I'm a clean racer and never try to take anybody out, one of those racing deals. I have video from that race if you want to see it. PM me.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / walbto lmt 56
« on: April 11, 2010, 06:56:37 pm »
i have a carb issue, theres a bunch of topics about this carb but none of them relates to my issue. if somebody has a few min to walk we through what im doin wrong please pm me so we can exchange numbers. it would be easyer to explain on the phone...

well here r some details, 31 ohv single. built to the hilt i would say, with the timing at28 degrees and the walbro 56 carb, no fuel pump(did not have one stock) ec high speed jet, plugged vent hole, cleaned it 2 times like it was one of my wifes peices of jewlery. 1.5 turns on both needles it will start and idle.(idles at like 1800-2300) let it warm up to 250cht. exhaust is 850. hit the throttle hard very quick is does not respond then dies. but ur eyes would burn from the exhaust. pulled the plug and it is soaked. so i turn both needles in 1/8th turn. i keep turnin them in till the exhaust is up to 1090-1120 plug still wet. with that it wont idle well and breaks up very bad it reved anything more then 2500. i cant even drive it yet becuase it wont stay runnin where its at now. now i can give more details if somebody wants my number. thanks again

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / New Build- New Questions
« on: March 14, 2010, 10:20:55 pm »
Couple questions on my first engine build. Some info i did not find with the search button. Hope this helps some other newbies as well. I'm working with a 31" (17hp to be exact) OHV Single cyilnder  Non-Avs engine. Cheeta Cam from mike at precision Cams, EC Balnced crank, EC Milled head, EC springs/Retainers, EC roller Rockers, Mild port/Polish, ARC Rod and flywheel. Now i have talked to a few guys from heymow and they have enlighted me alot about what to do, but here a few things i'm unsure about:

- The stock plug is a RC12yc champion, atleast this is what was on the motor. Should i run this plug or does anybody find that an NGk or other brand works better? Cold or Hot Preference?

-There is alot of info about the EC copper head gasket on here, I wish EC could have put a note of preping the gasket in with the new gasket but when torque the gasket to 250 inch ibs; should you do this in incriments? If so how much of an incriment? or from hand tight right to 250 in lbs?

-When mounting the engine to the frame do yall use the stock spacers under the oil pan? Or mount it rite to the frame? Not sure if flex or tweak would affect the engine block.

-The stock engine Tins for my motor had 2 top engine covers, a black metal cover then brackets for a second Red top metal cover. Being Air cooled should i run both covers or just one cover?

-Walbro 56 carb- The fuel line inlet hose on mine is a very short brass fitting coming straight out from the carb body. This fitting is about a 1/4" long, not big enough to even fit my fuel line with a clamp, does this come off of the carb or is it missing something there?

-Lastly exhaust, I plan on running 1 1/8" ID from head to 1 1/2" ID to 1 7/8" out the side. Do you think this pipe is big enough to have a deep tone? Or is this to big of a jump in size?

Well thanks all for reading  :D Any info you have would be appreciated! Jim

Chassis / Modify dash?
« on: March 01, 2010, 09:31:02 pm »
ok now i know you cant cut/weld/fab the body panels. How about the dash? Reason i ask is because i just got my new digitron gauge setup and plan on mounting it to the dash but might have to cut/modify it. Now i'm talking a clean cut, using original dash, ( which is plastic, mtd) just making a spot to mount my digitron. sooo? what ya think?

Chassis / MTD Battery Placement?
« on: February 20, 2010, 12:58:59 pm »
Alright finally got internet out in the shop! Its nice to have heymow rite at your finger tips while working on the mower. So anyway i have an MTD like georges 07 build. Last year i had run a motorcycle battery, worked ok for Imow. I have since upgraded to a full size mower battery. Biggest one i could get my hands on, Well I was looking at placement of this bigger unit. Looks like with some engineering i could mount it to the left side of the chassis. Against the side frame. This would give me more left side weight being that last year i had a problem of getting on two wheels if i pushed the mower hard enough. Do you think i would see a noticable difference mounting to the side verses where george's 07 build was mounted behind the steering shaft? what ya think?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / 17hp ohv single
« on: July 09, 2009, 10:56:57 am »
Alright, I have a 17hp Ohv single, I/C platnium. Made for "craftsman" by briggs and stratton. Red metal engine cover, electric high speed solenoid on the bottom of a walbro 56 lmt carb. Trying to find some info on this unit but the only engine numbers i can find are engraved into the engine cover. Here they are as they were wrote: 311707 0026R. Thats all i could find, no plate or sticker. just those numbers engraved on the top. I tried the briggs site and those numbers are not working. If anybody can find info or has this motor let me know. I plan on building it for C/P class, but do not want the "AVS" version after doing research. Thanks much!

Briggs Flathead / IMOW- governor ?
« on: June 15, 2009, 09:14:17 pm »
ok- here goes: Yes, the search button worked but then didn't work for my certain problem. I find it easier to just ask. So 12horse single flat head briggs, Imow Class. Bent the tab to get around 3650. New plug, Fresh gas(no fuel pump) All that kind of jazz is good. Now at idle i'm looking at about 1100-1380 rpm. Yea hand throttle hooked up, when floored it is smooth all the way up will the Gov. kicks in. Then it does that surge. I can sit there and watch the Gov. n Buttler fly just bounce back and forth eveyrtime. Tried adjusting how far the throttle cable pulls the whole factory linkage, no change in the surge. Gov. sping from arm to carb is there and tight. Spring from that "tab" i adjusted is tight. All is clean and smooth. Yes I cleaned carb, and by clean i mean where ever i could stick a .035 welding wire, it went there. o a LMT 56 carb is what we have. Lastly I have gone every which way with the what i have read is the "Idle" Mixture screw? The one under the idle adjustment but left of another screw. That other screw is tight by the way. I have started at 1.5 turns out and have backed it out from there nd no change. Questions/ Comments?

Chassis / Heim joints AGAIN!!
« on: May 15, 2009, 11:39:50 am »
Sorry for another topic about heim joints... :bash: but after reading all the post that come up when you search heim joints, I did not see if anybody has tried the APS 3/8- 24 heim's for the steering. If you have tried them, any problems? Weak and bending or will they work ok? Also do you use those heim joint "saver" washers they sell? I belive they go on top and bottom of the swivel in the joint.

« on: May 07, 2009, 08:18:49 am »
Hey guys, I looked on USLMRA site and do not see many "Local" Races for me in my area. I'm on the pa/md line and trying to make a list of races to make it to. Looking for something in the tri-state area. If anybody has a site that has a schedule of these races let me know, Does not have to be a national event. Thanks
