My suggestion is look in the flathead briggs section. There is a lot of build information on the oppy. You may have to go back a ways.

Go to the build section and see George's 07 build. That should help with chassis and steering.

When building a flathead you need to remember compression is not as important as flow! when you port a flathead just clean up the ports, no need to make them bigger. If you go Way back in the flathead section you WILL learn a lot about the flathead. Just doing a good valve job and cleaning up the ports will make a big difference on how well it will run. B&S goes by cubic inches not horse power. The 28ci goes by 12, 12.5, and 13 horsepower. The 11hp or 25ci head will raise compression but folks will debate on whether or not it helps. Some depends on what else you do, cam, carb, ports, flywheel and so on. Yes the lighter aluminum  flywheel will add performance!  GOOD LUCK with your build!

That's GREAT to hear! Please keep us informed!

Briggs Flathead / Re: Are All Opposed Twin Blocks The Same?
« on: May 16, 2018, 11:33:14 AM »
They also had pressure lube blocks and they did make a big bore block. The big bore block used a 42ci crank to keep it 46ci. The horizontal and vertical blocks are different but alot of the internals interchange. I have heard of big and small valve blocks but have not seen any.

On a small engine, YES!

Does the smoke stop after running awhile?

Most engines have a universal bolt pattern and so do chassis!
