Other Engines / FC540 wiring question

I am putting a FC540v on my step son's mod-xr and just want to make sure I get this wiring right. I know the white wire goes to my kill switch but I am not sure where the wire from the ignitor goes. I am thinking to the switched hot wire maybe?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Grass cutter fuel pump issue

I have been working on a friends grass cutter for sometimes now with no progress. It is a 1980 Craftsman with a Briggs 18hp horizontal and a Walbro LMH carb and an autopulse fuel pump. He brought it to me complaining of low power and a surging that would only go away if the choke was closed about 3/4.

After rebuilding the carb, and fuel pump, checking hoses, cleaning the tank and a new filter and replacing the rings because he insisted the surge is still there. I put a clear filter on it so I could see fuel flow and I noticed that it would not fill the filter completely. I suspect this is causing the issue of not getting enough fuel to keep the bowl full. I just can't figure out why it is doing this.

I am running a Briggs 31ci with the Walbro LMT 56 carb and the adjustable needle and EC air filter adapter in Mod-XR. How do I improve low end throttle response? I have tried gearing changes with no luck. It just bogs on starts and cost me at least one position on every start and restart. I am thinking maybe too rich on the low end needle but I am not sure. The idle is smooth at about 1500 or so and the plug is a light brown color after a race. Top end is great. Thanks for your help

Driveline / Cheap heavy duty brake line alternative

I found these at Harbor Freight and they work great if you use a karting style 2 piece caliper or a single line system. They don't swivel so I hade to take my caliper off and screw them on after I attached the hose to the master cylinder. But for $4 they can't be beat

When I hold the throttle wide open to check RPMs  should the engine stay at a smooth RPM level or should it fluctuate back and forth like it's hammering the governor.   I pulled my motor off this past week to clean the frame up and do some basic maintenance. Before I removed it the engine always ran smooth when I checked rpms but when I put it back on now it bounces. It does it fast enough that it has no effect on my tach. At my local track I am the only one that held a smooth level. I just wondered if it was a problem.

Tires / Kenda Turf Riders

Is anyone running the 16-6.50 Turf Riders they sell at Northern Tool? If so how tall are they when mounted on 8x7 rims? I put the 13x6.50's on the front this year and love how "grippy" they are and I was thinking about putting these on the rear.

How many rpms should my governed 31 ci run at? I can not get it below 1740 right now. It's not causing any problems it just seems a little high. I tried the idle speed scew but the arm isn't even touching it so that does nothing.  Just thought I'd get some other opinions

Driveline / Same ratio, different sprockets?

I can get the final drive I am looking for with either a 16/46 in 3rd combo OR a 12/44 in 4th. Does it work out the same since its the same FDR or does one have an advantage over the other? I understand with the 12/44 I would have a shorter chain and thus lighter weight but I just don't know if there is something I'm not thinking about.

When i set my governor on my Mod-XR it tends to be higher after a race than where I set it before hand. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I know this is one of those areas that people like to keep their methods secret but never hurts to ask.  :D

I'm running a 31 ci on my Mod-XR and  when I let off of the throttle in the corners the motor really boggs down before picking back up. I can get around this by only letting out to about half throttle and riding the brakes into the corner. Is this a normal way to drive a goverened mower or do I need to tune the carb a little better?
