Driveline / What a MESS !!!
« on: October 06, 2009, 10:40:17 pm »
Took my 350 tranny apart to clean it all up. The benoite grease SUCKS. First off it smells horrible, Second it sticks to Everything, Third even solvent wont take it off without rubbing. But the tranny is Fairly easy to take apart. Not as many pieces as i thought there would be. Ill post pics of it tommorrow. Im gonna replace all the bushing with bearings and seals (Thanks to snowman184 for the numbers 8) ) , put a vent in it along with Amsoil gear lube, whats your guys opinon about removing reverse? What all needs to be removed to make it work?

Briggs Flathead / Opposed horiz/verti
« on: October 05, 2009, 07:38:58 pm »
Will horizontal opposed parts work for a vertical? If so what is interchangble between the two? I might be able to get a horz opposed that came off an old welder for free, so it wouldnt be to abuse up considering it didnt have the load that a mower would put on it. It ran a generator on the welder from what I understand.

Driveline / 351A
« on: October 04, 2009, 01:34:25 pm »
Im trying to figure out which gear is 3 to 1 ratio. I found it but i have no idea which gear it is. I think its 3rd tho. But the mower it was on didnt have the tranny plate that goes over the tunnel that show which gear is which. So lets say im standing behind the tranny. Its in neutral. Its an I pattern shift. What the pattern from looking at the back? Or where is 3rd gear? The gear that gives me the 3 to 1 is in the left front. ( you dont need the pulley or sprocket on to find the 3 to 1 do you?

Driveline / 350??
« on: September 23, 2009, 08:59:34 am »
Im thinking i got a peerless 350 but not 100% sure. It has an I pattern shift, 3 gears and reverse. On the tranny the only marking i found was it sed, us pat. then a number like 3040560 or something, it wasnt the model im pretty sure. It came off a mtd lawnflite. If that helps. Ill post pics later tonight or this evening. If it is im planning on sending it to don. 8)

« on: May 27, 2009, 05:15:58 pm »
I know this has proably sed more than once but do i need to completely tear down my opposed to port the ports? And when i take the valve out and put it in when done does anything have to be set. Or should it be right on? What the easiest way to do this?

Is the one from Acme Mowersports any good? It looks real heavy to me. Or should I just buy one somewhere else and put my own 4 inch on it?
