Can someone tell me were to look or give me specific instructions on how to set the timing I am gonna buy the timing from E.C but I read the posts and I see you guys talking about setting the timing and I have not been able to figure it out some help would be grateful.  My reasoning for the timing is with the RPM at the top end you can hear it miss from side to side if that makes sense so I figered on advancing the timing to a 6 degree then I thought that maybe the was out .

Driveline / peerless 688 transmission
« on: July 30, 2010, 11:20:05 am »
I have recently came across an old murry  4 speed mower with a briggs opposing 16 twin. I have already deleted the points. my question is it has a 688 peerless in it is this good? on top of the trans is a box with a pilley coming off the side and back to the tranny . it has pinion gears inside . how do I set up the gearing for this. my thought is to put a 10" pulley upfront  a 4 " pulley in the middle I dont know what to do from there some help would be appreciated.
