i have raced the briggs single for 5 years only had 1 failure and it was my fault ran 3 seasons on a set of valves the head on the intake one broke off and that all that i had with them.
my thoughts exactly.....have ran briggs singles for quite a few years and never lost one, make sure the clearances are spot on, use good parts and keep timing within reason and they are very reliable and build good power too!

well i got it all to fit, lol...had to move the outer bearing over a bit,

i kinda dig the old school look of lawn mowers, i like the newer hoods and fenders, but i had this old stuff...lol

raised the fenders up about an inch as well, so as it sits have about 1 1/4'' clearance, built everything with mower tires in mind but my plans changed...lol
ride height about 2 1/4'' in the rear and a little less in front, planning on some new front rims and hoosiers for the front here pretty quick

well you spoiled my fun Larry...lol, i was hoping 1 1/2-2'' and even that is gonna require some surgery on my fender mounts, cant remember where i read that you should have wheels and tires before mounting anything.... :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

George, get two of these stacked on top of each other to take the place of the bushing, works real good and will solve the problem for good, ran that setup for several seasons and never had a bit of problem, they also make a 1'' tall bearing you can use, but two of these is about perfect to replace the stock bushing, may have to add or remove a shim under the pinion gear....

well i received the wheels and tires 16x8.5-8 hoosiers mounted on 8x9 rims (thanks Drew), wow these things should put some power to the ground, hope to get them mounted on the chassis on tuesday, i will have to move the 3rd bearing in about an inch for plenty of tire clearance, but not too big a deal, i will get some pics posted soon!

well i got the running gear somewhat done, still need to notch the fender for the chain and build a tensioner for the chain, may have to move the outside bearing in for tire clearance, went with a little wider tire than i planned on so we shall see, but wont be a big deal to move,
