« on: September 06, 2013, 10:53:37 am »
i know the rear fende is mounted to a bracket that raises it off of the frame, how do you guys go about lowering your seat height. i was thinkin about just removing the bracket an have the fender set directly on the frame, bolted down of course.

« on: September 02, 2013, 01:44:21 pm »
I'm tryin' to gather parts for my build this winter. How do you dtermine the length of rear axle you will need? I planed on measuring the length of the rearend I pulled out to give me a ruff idea of what length to order. Also which is more popular 1" or 1 1/4" axles. Thanks.

I weld for a living so that shouldn't be a problem but ill proably go with some 1/8" thick stuff cause I still accidently blow holes in stuff from time to time.

Yeah, this wont be load bearing or anything so it don't have to be real strong just don't want the square stock to move.

I'm thinkin of bulding my own axle, would 1X2 tubing be sufficent enough for this task?

If I have some 1" square tubing and I slide some 3/4" square stock into it what would be a good way to secure the square stock into the tubing. I was thinking of drilling two 1/4" holes about a 1/2" apart and plug welding then grinding flush. Gonna do this on opposing sides of the tubing so it'll be four plug welds.

yeah starter solenoid, my fault mudflap. I've checked all of the wires and only found on that looked like it had been chewed on by a mouse. Taped that up and still the same thing makes a buzzing noise when the starter is hooked up but makes a click noise when it isn't hooked up???

I got me a racin mower but wanna make sure the motor is gonna run before I fool with it too much. I put a fresh battery in it from my yard mower and when you turn the key all you get is a loud buzzing sound from the coil. I pulled the starter off and hooked up my battery charger to it and it spins fine. When the starte is unhooked from its power supply the coil clicks like it's suppose to and I get power all the way opposed to when it is hooked up I only get power to the battery side of the coil. I really hate dealin with electrical stuff. Thanks in advance.

I'm in the process of hunting for a mower to turn into a racer. Question I have is if I remove the governor will the motor still idle normaly? I'm not sure of what type of throtle selection I plan on going with yet. I worked as a small engine mechanic helper for a while several years ago but I didn't do a whole lot of work on the motors, mainly did seasonal tune ups and carb rebuilds. I'm gonna check out some books from the library to learn more about engines. Secondly I was wondering what was the benefit of polishing the heads? Is that something I could do at home? Thanks for the help.
