rFactor, been a while, best i could find, very realistic in detailed setup and driver action. virtually any application available = late model, hobby, stocks.. look for apps to compete on local/any (woo, carolina clash...)   actual series online w/ up to 20 others at a time.

Tons of video of rfactor and other decent dirt programs. To me rfactor is the most realistic.

Best??

All the above when used w/ a ultra sonic cleaner. Look at ones designed for cleaning jewelry, they come in different sizes, get one large enough for your largest application needs.

Driveline / Re: RAGB which one is 80-100hp capable?

search for "Superior" in 3/4" w/ aluminum housing. Lightest ragb that I know of that will handle more power than that. We always boxed it in and attached to all 8 mounting holes. Clean out grease and use light wt synthetic oil to keep cool. Keep looking they are getting hard to find. Have seen them go from $30 up to $225.

Best dyno we ever used was a stopwatch measuring acceleration under a constant stable load in the rpm range raced.

Thought so, I got a few horizontal pans from u back in the day. Ran the same ones on the cv490s w/ good results for years, easiest way we made them go horizontal w/ minimum mods.

Kohler Engines / Re: cv15 oil pump counterbalance shaft how strong?
« on: April 30, 2011, 02:01:14 pm »
Yes it can be removed, use a 12v holley fuel pump and connect using lines on a remote oil cooler to suck from pan and push into oil passages. Also need to fab up a internal oil line from both balance bosses ( one in pan, other in block ) to get oil over to block side. Had to balance crank, improve/ make new oil pickup assembly. Yes, large gain in acceleration and will need to be geared taller to keep from over revving. Lightened balanced single crank and rod will hold up to 9k.  Never had a broken balance shaft, w/ shaft in regularly ran 7k with occasional 8k+ when tires broke loose or bounced.

Try midwestcontrol.com, they have (almost) anything when it comes to mechanical connections. Prices drop the more you buy, many suppliers buy from them and save $ with large volume orders. Have used their products for a long time, high quality- best prices. Butcher.

Nice looking piece, we done the same to save $$ on a custom. We only had one groove to index a centerline for gear mounting bolts (which we slotted for fine adjustments). Once adjusted we drilled a fifth hole, tapped threads, and loctite a bolt to prevent any future slippage. We ran this type for years using the same lightened cast gear on several different billit shafts with no problems at all. We were paying 100-125 for grinding lobes on a blank that we turned ourselves (there were none available then for a single kohler, still not i think??). We cut the gear off, lightened it, then had a machine shop index mounting slots- which I think was around $40-50. Been awhile back, but I believe to have a billit one/off adjustable gear made would have been over $300. If all you have to do is send him a oem cam, they remove gear and lighten, and then mount it to a billit blank, and grind profiles to your specs for $200. If I need another one I'll be getting in touch, for $200 this is the best price by far for a one/off quality made billit cam, and I know this type works well. Butcher.

We always built our own. We turned our own blanks on a lathe and sent them to the regularly used places to be ground. We Lightened a stock (cast) cam gear on the lathe before removing from stock shaft. Just take accurate measures from one end of shaft to each side of lobes and machined (turned) lobe side of lightened cam gear before removing (this measure is critical for a flange to mount the gear onto new shaft, so it will line up correctly). We just had a machine shop cut 4 slots in gear and tap 4 threaded bolt holes in flange, slotted for correcting cam timing. Bolted it up and sent it off to be ground.
