Title: 15 6.50 8 Carlisle
Post by: 2nstoys on January 13, 2010, 09:24:56 pm
Has anyone mounted Turf Master 15-6.50X8 on a 8 inch wide rim. Looking at them but the sidewall looks pretty small to stretch that far.

I put some 16x6.50.8 on without problems. I did have a little trouble getting one to seal, so I had to stick a tube in it. I will just run that one on the inside since I prefer to run a lower air pressure for better handling.

They area a narrower tire than the 16x6.5-8. Even though they are both stated at 6.5 they are not. The 15x6.5-8 works great on a 6x8 rim. They end up being a low profile with maximum bite from tread. Any wider rim and you won't have a sidewall and have the rim lip in the dirt when cornering.

So, now that it runs fine, you have nothing else to do but obsess over what size tires and wheels to use?!?
Plus you never stopped by and dropped off some ice cream for me today...it was hot out, I could have used it.  :D

I ran those same tires on 6" wide and never believed they could have went on an 8" wide. They are narrower than a 13x6.5-6 even though they're listed at 15x6.5-6 . As for stopping by....I was about 60 miles north of you today....down there next week. :) You'll get ice cream when I see those chicken legs again!! LOL!!

just wanted to say that I am glad to see this thread! I thought I was the only 1 looking for a better answer than a 16 x 6.5 on  a 8 inch rim!

So from what I am gathering, it is wise to use a tube with the 15's on an 8" wheel. Correct?  Otherwise lower pressures become a problem?  Just wanting to make sure, I just might try it!
