Is there going to be any travel money? Not to sound broke but any little bit helps especially if ya can get a group of guys together to go.
-
Sorry Jason, there won't be any travel money at this time, things could change in the future, but! we plan on feeding you guys and making this an experience you'll never forget.
This will be a major event with a lot of racers attending, keep in mind your going to be racing on a banked prepared clay race track. With a race track like that, and super high horse power, we are expecting to see a show and speeds never before seen, this is truly going to be the Daytona 500 of lawnmower racing.
There are outlaw/supermod machines all over the place being built as we speak, I think everyone was waiting for an excuse to build one, the "V-Twin Shootout" is the icing on the cake and one of the deciding factors to get them built. Can't wait for this event 8)

The V-Twin Shootout will be a 40 lap race in total, with a mandatory 1-1.5 min pit stop at 20 laps to re-fuel, have a drink, alter tire pressures if need be and so on. The mowers will be stopped on the front straight-away in order.

This event is not affiliated with any sanctioning body in particular, it is more of an open event. As co-hosts of the event the Western Ontario Outlaws are not affiliated with any U.S. sanctioning body at this time.
As mentioned earlier we will run the prepared classes, along with Outlaw/supermod and other open type and stock classes. All mowers have to meet the safety requirements to run, that's what we will be teching mowers for, to make sure they are safe.
-

-
Consider it a non affiliated national event 8) All the big dogs are going to be there, can't wait.
-
Non Affiliated International event;)
-
780 Miles and 13 Hours. I'll see what I can do, to early to tell. Sounds Awesome!
-
If anyone is interested in sponsoring this major event please contact myself or Ferris by pm please.
We are looking for a primary sponsorship that we could name the event after such as the (The "Your Name" 2011 V-Twin Shootout) the sooner the better to take advantage of the publicity before August and beyond.
We don't neccesarily need the funds at the moment, we can go over the details, a committment would be fine for now.
Also looking for secondary sponsors, all sponsors will be recognized and presented in a professional manner, we have certain packages available but the amount of support is negotiable.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to be a part of this huge International event. 8)

First time Ive seen this post. I will come to watch and meet fellow heymowers. My kid has raced her kart at vestaburg a few times. Very nice track, nice people and Dave the owner is a very nice guy as well. The track is very nice if I didn't mention that. They run winged outlaw 250cc sprint karts. Those are super fast and stick so you guys on the baddest of the bad mowers should have no problem.
Dennis
-
Thanks Dennis for the nice words!!
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Yes Im looking forward to see some fast racing!
Sat night we will be running with the Karts!should be a great time!!

more stuff coming as there many details to work out
-
Just a reminder
we will be runing the following classes
A/P (Mini-Sportsman) B/P (Super Sportsman) C/P (Mod-X) S/P (Sportsman) Imow (Super Stock) J/p
Stock = flathead single(must meet Dirt Devils Stock class rules)
Pro/Stock = Limited Flathead Stock ohv singles and Stock opoosed twin (must meet Dirt Devils Pro/Stock class rules)
Super /Stock = All built Singles with F/X-Pro/X style chassis also built opossed twins (chassis open)and Limited Vanguard 30 cu or less and Limited Inteck 40 cu or less
Open Single = all singles Open Chassis (tech staff Aproved)
Open V-Twin = All V -Twins Open chassis(Tech staff aproved)
These are just ta give ya Idea of what we are thinking of runing right now
we may add more
and more engines to some of the classes
all engines must be natural asperated and no injection Systems of any kind (no NOS Systems !!!!!
will have final classes with in next month or so thanks Ferris
-
Ferris on the BP class is it set for US rules or what? Mine is a BP but have a couple different rules for our group just wondering if i had to change it to run in that class?
-
Ok
Its hard to fit all the different Mowers from all the different clubs in! and trying to keep it as fair for all
had thought at one time of having classes by engine with total open chassis but to put a B/P against the W.O.O. Outlaws that wouldn’t be totally fair so that’s why we are going this root! So its a chassis thing with all the Prepared classes
Here is my thoughts on that
we will run the Prepared Chassis classes under a more open format
Like B/P Super Sportsman Open Class meaning they must be Some what close to the B/P Super Sportsman spec’s
As long as they are Safe!!! That!! is the main thing
But unless there is major !!differences and it meets all the Safety spec yr good to go
let me give you a example, say you show up with a pan chassis frame with out Major mod,s that meet all the spec’s but has a front bumper and Nerf bars you would still be good to go
but come with same thing running on Kart tires and a lot of frame mod,s than no yr going to have to run the open class
I hope this answers yr ??s give me a call John
All mowers will run in if there safe!!!
-
Where can we find rules for the Dirt Devils classes?
-
http://ithacadirtdevils.com/default.aspx
-
Rooster I,m working on rewriting them should have them up on site before end of Jan(at latest) or before if I get the time!!
It takes time lol
-
Question Can i send rooster 2010 rules sheet ? so he can get a idea on the classes and rules ?
-
Yes ya still can get them here
but theres some changes engine name wise
and a few chassis rules have changed!
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/IthacaDD/files/
you can find last yrs here but keep in mind some changes 4 this yr
-
25 miles from my house. Looks fast, Cant wait!
-Samo
-
ok 2011 rules for Dirt Devils are on site
join up and join the fun
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/V-twinshootout/
-
Just to let you guys know, fabricated chassis's are allowed to run in the twin and single shootout classes. As mentioned, as long as your machine is safe you're good to go.
-
Engine placement can be changed but must be centered side to side in frame
Up to 6" offset allowed, may stagger tire height
No Aluminum frames
Frames may be home built
but must be lawnmower style
round tube ok for Super/stock and Super/mod
Aluminum Kart axles ok
these are the rules for the J/p Stock,Pro/Stock,and Super/Stock classes
And heres some on the track rules!!!
The most important rule is to keep your lawn mower under control at all times!!
The driver making a pass is responsible for making a safe pass!
Excessive bumping will not be allowed!
You may not advance your position on the track by moving / bumping other lawn mowers!
-
iS KICKING OR FLOGGING ALLOWED?
-
How bout just a dirty, intimidating look as you go by...?

Ryan wrote You can't promote the V-Twin Shootout race in Vestaburg Michigan Aug 13th-14th better then that I guess everyone will have to make it out to see who's going to take home the shootout title
George wrote YUP I won't have ANY distractions, No other classes to wear me out, it will be ALL GAME FACE with some SUPERMAN humor spread evenly about. SUPERMAN and his itty bitty INDIAN taking on One ARMED BANDIT with the BIG BAD KOHLER. S0 far I am 0 for 2 first time I was severly out chassis'd second time I was unable to make the feature. -

-

-
I'll be there to...wait, n/m....noone wants to know what I'll be doing!
Are bullhorns allowed at this event?
OHHHH!!! IF your bringing the bullhorn, do tell do tell LOL
-
i always have the bull horn
-
UH OH!! Glad hes the one stayin in a truck and not me!! LOL Hotel room decision just got a lot easier!!!
-
yep
-
There's going to be some karaoke after midnight, that's why Rooster's bringing the bullhorn. :woo:
-
If I bring a bull horn it would only be to fight fire with fire....Roosters are skeered of bullhorns....
-
AFTER MIDNIGHT ROOSTERS ARE ROOSTING IN THE TREES!
-
OK as many of u know this is a 3 day event
Friday= test and tune hot laps,Fun night
Sat = time trials/heats (for Features line up)
Sunday = features
The price is $40.00 for the weekend(1 mower ,1 driver)
it will be $40.00 if you come in by a Set time Sat.
Sunday only=$25.00 and you will line up at rear of yr class by straw draw!
You may run more than 1 class (bp in twin shootout)depending on how many we all ready have for feature race, All mowers in that class will run ! others will run behind them! we may or may not have short test and tune on Sunday
pit passes are $10.00 for non racers per even
stands is $3.00 with family of 4 at $10.00
Thanks and hope to see you there!
-
Why the price....you just made a inexpensive race an expensive race....
-
A sign of the times. Do a big race like this and see what it cost to put it on. Ain't cheap my boy. UNLESS you got BIG sponsors that are covering the bill the money has to come from somehwere.
-
I didnt think $40 for ALL 3 events was bad!
thats like $13.333 per event most places are 8-15 FOR one race and thats nothing special!
-
I was thinking 2 when I posted. 3 not bad at all. Is test and tune going to be all the test and tune you can take or a limited amount?
-
Ferris when racers have been used to going and paying nothing at events such as Nats etc, then suddenly a big event charges they wonder why!!! This sport has been done for so long and its been so cheap many events not charging racers they get used to it. We all do. BUT times change expenses go up, sponsors put out less n less its gotta come from somehwere. We even charged at the All American 25 per. May even go up this year. It is what it is. Lots of venues and small clubs are not blessed aith big sponsors to foot the bill. Oh well it nots bad just some are not used to it. I mean for me n Jake thats 80.00 plus travel but it won't stop us. Best part is we know early enough to plan for it and around it. ITS ALL GOOD.
-
Ide say ALL u can get in
but That hasnt bin decided Im sure it will be a time thing like 5pm to 9pm may be longer(with fire pit / hang out time after wards) itll just b mowers so dependeds on the amount of mowers and thing might brake it up some in classes woulnt want imows and outlaws on track at same time prob like this 3-6 mowers of close to same set up go out for 3-5 laps then next group or if no ones out you prob can run more by self we will prob play it by ear
also there will be a welder if anyone needs one
and a scale 4 those that want a weight on there mower
-
Do you have early reg. forms available.
-
Do you have early reg. forms available
coming soon!
-
A couple things to remember:
First and foremost, we are racing on a top notch clay banked oval track, not on a piece of grass somewhere where the track is wooped up the night before.
Everything is included in that fee, and we are going to feed you guys as well. Like George says this is what you can expect from a high profile event such as this.
On a side note, I'll bet you can really appreciate what major sponsors like Sta-Bil are doing for the sport of lawnmower racing, and how much money they are saving lawnmower racers. Pretty easy to take that for granted, I try to support them back as much as I can ;)
Anyway I'll guarantee you'll have $10,000 worth of fun, and besides...... Rooster will be there :woo:
-
See Tommy, were talkin' bargain basement prices for that level of entertainment!
I might even bring some brown bottles....lol
Let me drive your mower Ryan...you may indeed get $10,000 worth of entertainment, lol!
-

Let me drive your mower Ryan...you may indeed get $10,000 worth of entertainment, lol!
With Ryans $10,000 worth of entertainment also comes the cost to rebuild an outlaw after we all learn they dont fly as well as a baja ride, or maybe not even as well as Supermans Ole Red. But maybe then again, you will be totally switched to rocker arms. Now THAT would be worth $10,000
-
Who knows with the speed of the outlaws it might fly better....the landing now that's where stuff gets a little hairy. Lol
Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
-
Well now Ryan runs a horizontal shaft engine, which means I should be able to use engine torque to adjust flight attitude!
-
ONLY OUR FEATHERED FRIEND WOULD THINK OF IT WAY!!! LOL
-
So I oughta bring ya a prop to go with yer wings?? :D :bash:
-
yea something like that
-

The V-twin shootout will now be a 2 day event (saturday/sunday) due to some local noise restrictions. There will still be free rustic camping friday & saturday night for those of you planning to arrive on friday.
There will now be a better deal on the pit passes, was $10 each day, now $15 for 2 days.
A change has been make in the rules requiring all drivers of V-twin machines to be 18 years or older.
Any questions contact Ferris (Bounyhunter) or check the Vtwin shootout website at www.vtwinshootout.com

Ok guys just so we are clear on this the Stock class is that stock 28 cu inch flathead you can remove govenor add exhaust pipe and aftermarket aircleaner NO OTHER MODS ALOWED this class is for the budget racer take engine of mower and go !for those that want to add mods we have a pro stock class for the limited built one see the rules please!!!! See the dirt devils site 4 engine specs oh if I have reason 2 think yr engine isnt stock I reserve right to have you remove intake and exhaust pipe aircleaner fan shrowd and nut and washer holdin flywheel
Oh if I/we find mods u will b disqualified any ???s
-
Flywheel keys legal for those in the "ungoverned stock class"??
-
Only if he finds them...
-
you must have stock no advance key in place to be legal anything else isnt
-
What kind of final ratio should we expect to be running? Any guesses? My guess is around 5.5 to 6.5 to 1. Am I close?
-
So my question is will there be an ungov twin class? If it depends on turn out is there anyone else that was planning on bringing them?
-
Im bringin my...err..ungoverned single????? :D
-
I got a ungoverned twin also
...lol

-
I really lucked out my anniversary is this Sat the 6th and yes after 17 years George is right it's a test, a test I have failed several times. Have a wonderful anniversary George. I'm sure we will toast you and your wife at least a few times.
-
My bad stock ungov twin...
We are going to have some 100% stock ungoverned twins show up, the only difference is that they have billet flywheels as per WOO rules. I'm sure there will be other stock twins show up as well.
Last I heard was "Everybody runs!"
-
I can even translate for you...

It has been said that men don't understand, well we do, we just pretend we don't, You know JUST PLAY STUPID! I like my meals cooked and not thrown at me, and clothes washed, and I also like to get sleep at night LOL. I will deny writing this LOL!

Ok ryan might have to venture up that way... I don't have a billet wheel though but im still unclear whether advance keys are legal or not either way is no big deal
-
Advanced keys in pure stock is NOT legal you can ONLY change exhaust and air cleaner.
Ok finally on good internet the v-Twin stock class you may run arc wheel or advance key all carb bore and all intenall parts must be un modified and at stock specs
pro stock class oppossed twins and ohv singles must BE stock
-
Ok so I have a major question and concern. Earlier in the thread I saw 40 laps with a break/pit stop on lap 20 for fuel, tire psi change etc. Is that only for outlaw twins or all classes??
-
Bench racing thats all Zach
-
So how many laps are we running for heats and features then. Well I guess heat wouldn't bother me since it'll be shorter, but if we really are running 40, I'm gonna be in trouble.
-
Ryan won't last for 40 laps lol i can see 10 lap heats and 20 or 25 lap features.
I will be helping Ryan as much as i can. Won't be close to the track Got run over yesterday and it hurts. I really don't like straw bales, a driver hit one and got sucked into them and then took me out. Three stiches and very sore. Happened on the second lap of the first race after a rain delay. :( still don't know how i lost my shoe lol
-
Did you put it on in the first place?
-
Sorry to hear that pit. Do we need to build you a souped up wheelchair to buzz around in. I think I have some vannies around here somewhere. LOL
-
Did you put it on in the first place?
yeah i took the other one off too after the accident and socks lol was cold in the ER
Sorry to hear that pit. Do we need to build you a souped up wheelchair to buzz around in. I think I have some vannies around here somewhere. LOL
Nahhhh i am good
-
open v twin two 20 lap with a couple minute break for gas and adjustments open single two 15 lap with break imows and jr/jp will b shorter than others, that are 10 for heats and 20 lap feature b mains will b 10 lap too!
-
Ok so what about the in between classes?? Like ModX/CP? Or is everything 'modified' running together as denoted by engines??? I'm getting totally confused.
-
Zack we are runing the prepaired chassis classes so we will have a and im using US names because i know them better a/p s/p c/p b/p imow j/p will run under dirt devils rules 4 jr class and fx wil run in open single we will be more open chassis wise in prepaired class but u will run against mod x c/p type mowers yr heats will be 10 and feature is 20 i hope this helps also we have 11 classes to try and fit ALL mowers in u bring it well find class for u lol !
Also the open single and v twin are only ones runing the 2 stage type race all others will be run under normal format all will be rollin start
-
Ok great! Now it is all making sense. Thanks Ferris.
-
NO prob cant wait to meet you and any ???s please ask!!
-
Wow! been busy for a few days, I check out the thread and find there is well over 10,300 views on the Shootout thread.
It should be a good time. Can't wait to see everyone again and meet everyone in person that I haven't had a chance to meet yet.
-

-
To bad rooster would have been nice ta see another oppy there but just make it easier 4 the ohvs lol

-
pressure :dunno: what pressure? LOL enjoy your weekend rooster!
-
well Tommy will have 2 get ur done! LOL Any way maybe next yr and hopen to c u at the open well c how my job situation goes lol
-
I hope everyone can last 40 laps in the big class. I'm no coming all that way to run 20. I can do that here. If you wanna run with the best let's see who's the best!! 40 laps run what you brung shootout the way it should be!!
-
Thanks its going to be A very fun and exciting race seeing the meanest nastyest fastest and best v twins period run 40 laps to take home the w twin cup and bragging rights for the year just the thought of herein all them racing on the track gets my blood going lol
-
Ferris, the thing that makes me wonder about 40 laps split in half. You say everybody will stop on the front stretch midway...so if a guy has worked to gain a 1/2 straightaway on a guy he loses it at the half way point. I don't know about you, but I would think the first half won't be the best racing we could see...rather drivers 'saving themselves' for the last 20.
Solution, instead of fuel tanks, strap whole fuel can on the back of the chassis and turn em loose for 40. THEN we will see who's tough LOL
-
In a 40 lap race, you better be saving yourself and your mower!
Not all about being tough, finishing a race like that is about being smart!
-
A break at 20 laps is no different than a yellow you loose any lead you have a racer is gonna go regardless if its 10 20 or 40 laps. The place to be is out front wheather its a mower length or half track.
-
Let us fill up with fuel and turn us loose for 40 laps no break. It's not that long of a race. Let er rip MEN!!
-
Anyone have any idea of final ratio for this long of a track?
-
GLEN have no idea think there be lot of gear changes also I think Dave has a supply of 35 rear sprockets for the guys that are running those and no we will run the races as plan a 40 lap no stop would be fun but I also like the whole pit thing as it adds a differant element to the race ! And give the anouncer a chance 2 work the crowd a little
-
Let us fill up with fuel and turn us loose for 40 laps no break. It's not that long of a race. Let er rip MEN!!
All American is 30 uninterrupted laps of hard racing come get ya some
-
Are the Vtwins only doing 40 laps.....I would love running the opposed that long LOL
-
No tommy that's only for outlaw twin. We I asked earlier and was told we will run a 20-25 lap feature.
-
We should vote for 30
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
-
The all American is 30. Let's step it up ladies. 35 or 40. Do I hear 50??
-
are we breaking for a 10 min rest.lol
-
What u need more laps to catch them ohv,s or do ya want to see how many times you can lap them LOL JUST kidding!!!! you!!!! would love to run 40 lap split race for most of the classes BUT with 11 classes and people coming from all over would take way!! to much TIME ! We also may be running b and maybe c features too, This! all takes time oh 1 more thing there will be the 3 spinout/caution rule cause caution or spin out and third time will have to take it of the track
-
Is it still 40 per driver?
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
-
Yes or 25 4 sun
-
Is that per mower also?
-
I'm down for 30 laps straight. I got enuff fuel for that :D.
-
I don't know, Tommy. From what I've seen, maybe you ought to vote for somewhere around 5 - 10 laps! That way maybe that apposed twin can make it to the finish! :pffftt: :D
-
I don't know, Tommy. From what I've seen, maybe you ought to vote for somewhere around 5 - 10 laps! That way maybe that apposed twin can make it to the finish!
:lol2: That right there is too FUNNY!!! :+1:
-
How much extra $ to run a second mowchine? I plan on bringing the BP along with my Supermod.
-
It isnt the motor....its the Chinese Trans that fails EVERYTIME. Time for an authentic 700-039.
-
Funny mine are holding up great and I put alot more hp than you got
-
OK its $10 per day for extra mowers
-
Vestaburg or Bust! see ya there guys 8)
-
Getting outa work at 11:30 am then home get funished loading and on the road by 2:00Pm
see yall all soon
-
Ok its Now 5 a day for extra mowers with same driver
-
I hear there has been some complaints about the extra $10 per additional mower.
Guys you have to realize that if you have four mowers you will have four times the track time and four times the chance of winning then the guy that paid $40 for the weekend for one tractor, instead of paying $40 for extra mowers it would have only been $10 more. Sounds like a deal to me, not unreasonable at all.
Please remember that this is not a USLMRA event and Sta-Bil isn't paying your way this time, this is what racing really costs. We had to pull strings to get it that cheap. Keep in mind that you are paying to race on a super fast clay banked oval track.
-
Ryan THEY DROPED IT TO 5 BUCKS REMENBER THATS FOR THE SAME DRIVER TO HELP THEM OUT DONT KNOW 1B BRING TEN MOWERS SAYIN THESE ARE ALL MINE AND IM DRIVIN THEM THEN WE SEE DIFFERANT DRIVERS DRIVIN THEM

Well the scalp hunting is done for the day rain has postponed it all till tomorrow.... Good Job Zach. Bed the lil Indian down well and get em tomorrow.
-
How bad did the rain get you all so far?
-
Sittin around the track sun out. It'll be perfect tomorrow. It'd be raceable now with about an hour and a half worth of work. No water standing.
-
EXCELLENT! Thanks I will be there tomorrow early and looking very forward too a great day!
-
hot laps and time trials were fun. Sitting around till 10pm chatting was priceless Tomorrow should be fun :)
-
Did they expect Ryan's tractor to be a turd? Tell him to keep the RPM below 13000 and the shiny parts will stay inside where they belong .See you all tomorrow
-
Dont see where anyone said anything bad about Ryans mower.. The discussion was mainly about the CP class and we clarified that NO Zach did not set the Fastest time that Ryan did that!!! Dont see nowhere it was mentioned to be a turd or anything else for that matter.
-
OK, I'm up. Bummer about rain yesterday. I took a pass on the cage fights last night here in Edmore, Michigan, and got some rest. E-mailed checked, Facebook checked, texted the wife, coffee in hand, cold chicken in the cooler, 7 minutes to the track. Away we MOW!
-
Hey guys, I could not attend but just talked to Joe Parsons and he is at the shoot out! So far the NC and SC guys are having a good day! Rex made the stetement that this was one of the best races he has attended. I hope so cause it was a 14 hour drive.
-
I was told the Crouch group won CP/Mod-x and Super Sportsman/BP class thats all I have heard so far.
-
What kind of times were the cps running
-
That Crouch mower is FASTTTTTT!!!!!!.......Drove the mower to a second place. Between the Indian and Opposed there was some GREAT racing. Its going to pretty much come down to driver motors are very comparable to each other. Meeting everyone was great. Big thanks the Drew Burton and Zach Burwell for letting me crash in their room last night. Now time to get ready for Pennsylvania.
-
All but one Crouch mower won a race. They had two in the BP class
-
hey I make statement that some old blue 21 mower from Canada set fast but that was all in fun just kiddin with Ryan
-
Hey all the 2011 Vtwin shootout was a great success! There was a lot of very fast, very clean racing going on. Even though the weather was being difficult, the track turned out great thanks to Dave and the crew at Vestaburg Kart Speedway. Now a few people in North America have some real bragging rights for at least a year ;) Thanks to everyone who make the drive to come race with us, hopefully we can make this an anual event!! :D

Ryan's mower didn't run well, most of the time, only on one cylinder and couldn't do anything about it.He didn't bring any ignition parts to fix it.At the last he was in a corner and the other cylinder came in and flung him off the track.
-
WHAT A SHOW!! Are the Crouch's running a indian? The Indians ARE impressive, I am now seeing why you all talk about them like you-all do, wow. That was a great show Ferris! It was really great meeting ALL of you guys finally. The names have faces, lol. Congrat's to all the winners, and also the guys and girls who ran, seems everyone had fun. GREAT SHOW! So thats what happened to Ryan, bummer, he did have a rough night at the motel. Seems he was kept awake by other guests in other rooms, makes for a tough day.

Zach's is a single cylinder. About the only place you find any Tecumseh twins is in Wisconsin and George's house. There are a few others scattered about.
-
ED I relized that after I pushed post opps It was like a kid in the candy store everywhere you looked there was something different and cool! Alot of you guys see this stuff all the time I DON'T, I need to get out more! Seriously It was a great time. I once herd a saying WELCOME TO YOUR NEW ADDICTION! I still believe that about this sport, seeing today backs that up!
-
Yea Zach hooked and went off the track bending the drag link so he had no right steer so he pulled off. He was fast but gotta work on the handling a bit
-
gotta work on the handling a bit
Get that guy an MTD!
-
George Zach couldn't get the rpms up to where he normally races
-
OK my bad So George are you telling me I AIN"T SEEN ANYTHING YET lol
You ain't seen a INDIAN RUN YET!!!! I can be beat but at the same time I can and have beaten them all also.
-
his handling wasn't bad he was smooth and not bouncing around as much as Tommy
-
Zach and I both agree that between us its going to come out to driver. Right before he hooked bad he got around me and I was coming back up on him. Wish he could have finished, it was fun.

Yup he needs a MTD yea i know about the rpms it leaned out for some reason but it still had enough for the oppy had he not lost it but thats racing. everyone did a great job and theres always next time.

-
I'll put the bug in Ferris's ear to move the date one week either way! lol
-
Hope to have the midwest super cub kohler mod x down at the all american
That is if I have the new frame done.
-
Ok there was a lot of good hype before the race the oppposed of Tppmmy against the Techumseth of Zach But i believe was a briggs ohv single in the Crouch mower the race started with Daniels mowers gettin to first corner first and comin out with Zach and Tommy right be hind then not sure when but early Zach got up on 2 and went of track and messed his front up and of he went but that kind messed Tommy up a little puttin him back some but Daniel ran real good lines and was consitaint Tommy got close if i remenber for a bit but made a couple little errors that set him back as far as any of those 3 engines being a lot better than the others no they all were VERY strong and could and win lots of races i wish Zach wouldnt have broke because it was close was a good race but gota take hat of to them Crouchs very good mowers
-
Yup the CROUCHS are fast and very good drivers too.
-
Had a great time with all my old and new friends. Glad I got the supermod done in time to race against the outlaws. Qualified 4th out of 8 so my little Vannie was doing good. Was battling it out in the front when the throttle started sticking open. Kinda scary going into a corner at close to 50mph and it not slowing down. Stab the clutch and got the heck out of the way. Oh well, not bad for the first race on the new machine. The BP ran good but not enough for the Crouch machines. 2nd in the heat and 3rd in the feature. Awesome weekend. Even let my daughter run the supermod. Made her weekend. i don't think she wants her single anymore though. LOL
-
I think your right Glenn, she looked like she was having alot of fun out their! Better start looking for another twin! LOL
-
Thanks to everyone who made it out to the first annual V-Twin Shootout race. There was some real close racing and clean racing all weekend. I would like to thank all of our sponsors for making the race possible, Blitz USA, ARC racing to name a couple. The Vestaburg kart Speedway was a real clean facility, Dave the track owner kept the track perfect all day long. Great job he and his crew did there, What a nice set up they have.
It sounds like everyone had a really good time.
There was some pretty fast iron there, even the spectators enjoyed watching the mowers run a lot more then the karts because there was more action I was told. I was talking to some karters that said they couldn't believe there wasn't any cautions and how quickly we ran through the races. They said with the karts there is a caution every second lap it seemed.
The pit stop was the coolest thing ever, definately have to do that again.
Not sure how I got the number one spot for the weekend at half throttle with one cylinder kicking in and out but I'll take it, that was a little disapointing for me but we still managed to have a good time. It was just a great atmosphere there. Also thanks to Mr. Mowitall for making the trip down to support the cause as well.
-
The Grass Clipper Crew had a great time. It was great to meet new people and see some old friends we can't wait for next year Thanks To all who put this on I know it's a lot of work to do a show this size but you all did a great job it was a blast and the track was awesome
Thanks Again
Joe Misak
-
Yes it was a great weekend, it was nice to see the US racers again. We will see you all in mowhio
-
Just wanted to say how much fun the Crouch's had this past weekend,we got home about 8.30AM this morning, and then off to work, other than the 14 hour drive it was great,we were real fortunate and blessed to have safe travel and racing,it was really nice to meet old friends and competitors, and to put faces to some of the Heymow names,I can't say enough about the track and the crew that kept it up in spite of Mother Nature working against them,it was a state of the art facility, everyone was so nice and gracious to me and my family, there was alot of fast mowchines there and alot of good fast and safe racing, and we were proud to be part of it,THANKS AGAIN!
-
Thanks for kind words will pass them on to Dave and crew I know they did one heck of job fighten with weather to put a good track together! I know they realy enjoyed you all coming, I want to thank All the drivers for doing such a good job of driving on the track! It was clean and fast! Again Thanks all!
-
I had a great time,Mr mowitall took me around and introduced me to a lot of the racers I had not met before, the Crouch's were some of them, and the racing was great too, when they have it next year I want to return
-
Ok I would like to here any Good sugjestions on how we might make the shootout better next year my email is fhipp59@yahoo.com keep it clean please and reasonable Thanks again to ALL of you that came!
-
Really the only thing would be try and advertise in the area more. There's nothing better than racing in front of a HUGE crowd....oh tell the Crouch Mowersports people they cant win EVERY class they enter....LOL JK. Another thing that will help is see if we can get enough sponsors to pay for part of the insurance.....most of the racers around here are spoiled. STA-BIL or Amsoil pays it every time and I feel the $40 entry fee stopped a lot of racers from coming. Don't get me wrong I do understand it costs money to race BUT around here we aren't used to having to pay anything or if we do its like $5 at the most. Anyways, weekend was good track was sweet.
-
Today you have to look at fees ex me n Jake 40 ea that's 80 total plus 10 per extra mower per day I generally bring 3 or moe we go wit 3 that's another 60 for the weekend 140 total entry fee plus gettin there And everything else. We charged last year at the AAMC an attendance was way down. It's something to think about. With those fees I would only bring one machine ea. Just sayin
-
talked with track owner on price,we r tring to work on dropping it alittle, and exspecally for guys who run multipal mowchines.ganna start looking for sponcers right now for next year to help with it all also.would b awsome to get it were everyone could race for what you all r used to,but with the economy its tuff as we all know.the crouches have fast mowchines for sure and a good bunch of guys.but they also got a big target on there backs for next year.lol.weekend will b different next year superman.want to work with everyone to get best turn out so if there is suggestions plz let them fly!thanks everyone for having respect for each other and no problems.was great meeting so many that have only been able to chat with on here 8)
-
I feel the $40 entry fee stopped a lot of racers from coming. Don't get me wrong I do understand it costs money to race BUT around here we aren't used to having to pay anything or if we do its like $5 at the most.
I think that right there was alot of it...And add what George said. I really think that was the problem...yes I do realize racing costs money and the major sponsors of the two National bodies have it covered but regardless, it hurts attendance! Another thing to look at...we are late in the season, actually it was 3 weeks from USLMRA finals. So some of the local fast guys didnt even come out. Ya dont want to risk breaking your motor or something too expensive that close to finals! ARMA also had a points race that friday night in Maryland. I was going to go there and then to Vestaburg by Saturday morning, but NO WAY I could afford that and the time just wasnt there to let me get from A to B. I heard there was a good turn out at that race though!! So some of the fast guys from the central/northern part of the east coast were busy as well. I realize we cant please everybody, just layin options out to be thought about. ;)
-
It cost owner 1500 for crew plus fuel and other stuff on race day but will try and see mayb we could drop food or something tp put money towards getting it down a few more and bigger sponsers would be better but even at our local track we loost 3 and was talkin to another president said same thing happened to him will work on price and see also we had date set early as we could so as not to interfear with others thats hard to do cause every week end some ones racing somewere but it will not be on Georges anniversery LOL!!!!!
-
Might look into selling t-shirts, hats, and other stuff like that. A swap meet and charge for space. Some of this could offset some of the costs.
-
Ok maybe we need to set date up earlier in the yr or latter I dont know tryed best to set it up with every one i could locally but that didnt work!! so will ask Rich\Zach what date works better i could make it free by having it at ithaca but dont think Ryan and the other outlaw mowers would like 90 ft straights and tighter corners so that prob wont work and it just not the same caliber of set up as far as crowd that takes time as still the popular thinkin (those who never saw them run)is lawn mower racing who wants to watch a bunch of guy go 10 mph on a track! And i hope some of local guys would have spread word then self hey im running type thing wife was in stands and said heard lots of very positive coments so know there be more next yr they loved it!
-
This race attracted many of the biggest names in mower racing, it could become one of the premier events of the sport. Having the event at any facility will gain that facility notoriety and prestige. Maybe you should talk to the track owner about weighing the pro's and con's of having the race at his facility?
Drivers appreciate racing with insurance, we have no problem paying $5 to cover the cost of insurance.
If the race cost him $1500, he would only need to charge $7 for a couple hundred fans to cover those costs.
COncessions should help as well.
Maybe it would be good PR to forego profits for the event, if his tax man is worth his salt I am sure he could write off most costs.
Sponsorships help greatly.
Just some Ideas for you, but underlying message is "Look for creative answers". The financing should not be an issue.
Charging the drivers that much will hurt the event.
On the drivers side of the equation:
Drivers talk to your sponsors, let them know you think it would be good to attend the event but need some extra help to cover the costs. It is not unusual for sponsors to add a little extra for a special event.
If you do not have a sponsor, consider the costs an investment, good finishes at events like this or even simply attending them help build your "Racing Resume" that make you more attractive to sponsors.
Events Like the National Racing Series, the All American and The V-Twin Shootout help the sport. They bring it more into the public eye in a positive manner. All of us from the single driver, race teams, race promoters, club Officers, track owners to the Heads of the national Organizations need to work together to make events such as these as successful as they can be.
-
Rooster good points the 1500 is just what he said was for the crew he has nka insureance so what he payed extra there i dont know for 2 days now he charges 3 per head with family of 4 for 10 witch is as resonable deal im thinkin about racin on Sat next time as it would help those that have to travel not be so hurried and maybe run features with karts also that way could use Sunday as raid date and maybe do some racin sunday for fun or whzat ever but again some real good points Thanks
-
My idea would be to move the race to a little later in the year. I am thinking Early-Middle of October, that way you get around the USLMRA finals, maybe the ARMA finals also. I do not know when ARMA or SOMA have their "finals" but it should be some time close to the beginning of October. This would leave a gap between the end of one racing year and the beginning of another with the SRUSAA in November.
-
one major prob with Oct Weather here in Michigan would be crap shout! After sep it goes down hill in a hurry usally rain and cold
-
What about as an opener early in the year?
-
I think weather could be an issue in the early part of the year especially in Michigan. Maybe early October would be fall like and not like winter.
-
I would take the people that attended, and find out how many more would come with them next year,
and see how it could be scheduled out. You have a big haul in September, and one in Novemeber.
If this is going to be an annual event, it is going to have to be spaced several months prior to the
US Finals/US Open date. Competing year to year between these two events is going to reduce numbers
overall. The people local to this event, and Ohio are the folks to fill the classes. You have the Crouch's
and a few other groups that travelled a distance, but those are the exceptions. I know for a fact, that
Rooster schedules his year in advance.... he even plans events and does not schedule races at the
home track, when he has a race to go to. He came to Texas and raced with the LSMRA, and made his
calender way ahead of time.
-
I would go with the team if it did not conflict and was spread out so that we could afford it.
-
There is also a good haul early to mid october to the ARMA finals. I think the best time frame for the race is mid season. More so, 4th of july weekend would be awesome. Most folks have a paid day off so they could allow for some travel time as well. Wether or not it conflicts with other schedules, I have no idea other than the west coast races the uslmra put on that weekend.
-
We need to bring our own volunteers, main flagman, lap counters, timers for qualifying and so on so Dave doesn't have to pay out $1500. I realize that there are still costs with hydro, and fuel for the machinery and so on but we can probably cut that down a lot. We should just be paying for insurance and a few bucks for the track expenses and let Dave make money off of the concessions and souvenirs and spectators. There may be more to it then that, but just some ideas.
Also more sponsorship money coming in will just keep dropping the price of everything, now we kind of have an idea what everything costs. It can only get better from now on.
-
Michigan is always a crap shoot with weather. I have seen snow early in october and in late april. If you get past october 15 maybe, between the 1st and the 15th, better, end of september better yet! Dave does have the right size track but will he let clubs or other people he DOSEN'T know run and work his track? He doesn't know me from adam up the road, but I was an officer in a motocross club for 10 years helping put on 4 event's a year. We averaged 500 riders a day, but we also had 25 - 40 club members helping. We had to plan dates in dec or jan for that year, can we do that with US, ARMA, and WOO? The end of september in mich is really nice, we also need a rain date. I didn't see alot of spectors, how about advertising the event outside of or regular people and places. We have to get the word out and outside of other lawnmower racers. We can't keep doing the same thing and expecting differant results! Anyone that watches cars or motorcycles race will enjoy the v-twin shootout! The show went very smooth and moved right along, that keeps people's attention! One thing that is for sure it's all going to be a matter of timing! [just my 2-cents]
-
I kinda like the middle-end of june -1st of july was talking bout that last yr but someone said later worked for them than they didnt even show! i would love to set date asap and get it set with arma / uslmra but try to work with alot of the local groups as much as possible earlier we can scheduale the better! but even if we scheduale a date now someone still can add date later
-
Make sure you don't schedule the same week as USLMRA race in Sparta, lol.
I feel your pain brother! Our club is small enough that if we do a even a 20 mower race we have to count on neighboring clubs to help us out. Every time I even look at a venue I have to coordinate with about 5 other schedules! It can be a headache, but I am sure you will get it done.
-
Ferris I would not want to be in your shoes about now! Is your head spinning yet! I think I can speak for the forum and say, You can bounce anything off any of us any time. When you do pick a date I WILL do my best to be their, just let me know!
-
Yes Ferris you did talk to me about what time of year would work out for our group so you could plan on a free week for this avent. But you know that was a year ago and life changes daily for everyone and we couldn't make it but you have said it for the second time that "you wanted it earlier in year but because of other group would work better later in year and then never showed up" so what if we didn't show up you still had racing without us! You haven't said anything about George or Rooster not showing up that change the weekend of racing! Yes i am sorry we couldn't make it but i have heard from you time and time again that you would come race with us but life changed your plans! So maybe next year we can come but as of this year life changed our plans! Thank You
-
No prob. at all that you couldnt make it ill never twist anyones arm to come. Or pay for them to come we had a heck of a good time and I think most of the people will b there next year if a class a race track and setup along with hanging out with fellow racers and running with some of the fastest mowers around than does get you ecited it yr choice to choose not to attend i talked to a lot of other group presidents 2 when setting date besides you so relax wasnt even talking bout you! I still think $ main issue and will work on it I know it cant b free but will try and get it down some I also heard were in points race tracks to big, will tell you with the us and arma race dates its nearly imposible to find weekend thats free tahn throw in the local clubs its no fun but know i can never please everyone and will always b excuses,I did best I could this year!
-
You did a great job!
-
Ferris You did a great job. You plan the weekend and we will plan on being there. If it does fall on one of our race dates it's easier for us to change a local date than for you to change an event like this. Keep up the good work and don't get discouraged it will all work out in the end.
-
THANKS JOE AND AL WAS GOOD TO HAVE YOU GUYS UP JOE WE WANT 2 COME DOWN NEXT YR AND RUN WITH YOU ! AGAIN THANKS 4 YOUR SUPPORT!
