Try without the fuel filter and see if problem is fixed. I have found many filters will not flow enough fuel and engine will starve after a lap or two

i have seen dyno sheets from same engine with just long rods vs std rods. was 5-10 hp diferance peak. added power throughout power range.

solid lifter stock cam
valve springs
adjustable rockers
flywheel
good clean up of ports on heads
30hp carb and intake

cheap mild build that will be very reliable and perform well

the 30hp twin is same block but runs 2barrel carb and intake. you will be suprised what these engines will do even with minimal work. they are heavy but when you look at parts you wilm understand why. they are built last

give zach kerber a call. he has some reasonably priced combos and the replacenet rings are cheap for rebuilds in future. have built 2kohlers with this combo and friend running same combo. run them hard with no problems other than traction

lash depends on cam.. when setting them be sure to go side to side with guage cause rollers will roll and wont get accurate reading

combustion chamber is smaller on the 30ci heads :oops:. this will bump up the compreshion. both have same size valves and ports.

the bk series carb is what comes stock on the 30hp kohler. the 30hp also has thr 2barrel intake you will need

the 30hp kohler carb and intake will flow very good when worked over. the bk series carb handles engine very well

yoy must be talking about the courage engine? if so from 15-21 all the same bore and stroke just carb  diferances
