Kohler Engines / Starter
« on: November 20, 2013, 09:19:37 pm »
Right now I have the stock starter that comes on the cv15s. I was wondering if this one off of the kohler cv23/25 (something like that) would work and be a better one to use.

Heres a picture of one for you guys:

If not, then what starter would be good to get?

Thanks, Cody. (Sorry for all the questions just learning, and getting a list together on what to buy this winter)

Kohler Engines / Rod and Piston Question
« on: November 12, 2013, 01:14:47 pm »
Ive been looking at midwest and theres two diamond pistons. 3.425 with 1.142 pin location that used stock rod. I have no idea what stock rod length is. Other is 3.425 with a 0.750 pin location. So what rod would I use? Ive been thinking about using a 87mm je piston but once again no clue what rod to use. Anyone know some piston/rod combos? Anyone used a je piston?

I want a longer stroke rod with a shorter piston.

Any help would be awesome, winters coming and the time to break down the 15 kohler single and build it will begin.

Anyways, thanks!
Cody

Kohler Engines / Cam plus another question
« on: September 08, 2013, 03:35:07 pm »
Finally got the motor running good. Its a cv15 command single and was wondering as far as cam's ,whos grind would be the best for low and mid range power? Also, would I be better building up the 26ci cv15 command single I got or a 31ci briggs? This kohler stock seems to have ok power.

Any info regarding these questions would be great!

Thanks.

Coffee Shop / Racing Mower Talk / Swap Shop
« on: July 24, 2013, 12:00:32 am »
Racing Mower Talk / Swap Shop is a facebook group for people to join and talk about what there doing or If there looking for a part there welcome to post a wanted ad, or If there wanting to sell something they can post that and see If someone within the community wants It and then contact you and sell it. I just want a good community going on facebook for selling/buying stuff, and general talk about racing mowers. Just get on and have a chat or talk to someone about the build that there doing. I'm not trying to take anything away from heymow as It's an amazing site that people will use for years but rather a group where people can get on, sell, trade, buy or talk about racing mowers in general. I know theres a bunch of people on facebook that race and have never heard of heymow and might come across the facebook group which would be great. Build the comminty and have a good time talking and messin around with other racers.

Anyways If you'd like to join the group, It's https://www.facebook.com/groups/1393236850897367/ , anyone is welcome and would love to see a facebook community build.

I know heymow provides a bunch to the sport but a general facebook community would also be something good to have for people wanting to talk about the sport or just sell/buy something for there rig.

Anyways, If you guys want to join it then go for it, If not... It doesn't matter.

Cheers fellas, Cody.

Other Engines / FC420v Carb
« on: July 17, 2013, 10:51:13 am »
I'm using a carb from the FC420v on my kohler command single right now. My question is the jets. Which is the main jet? Theres one the screws into the side of tube in the center on the bowl, and theres one in the center of the tube. Is the one on the side a pilot jet and the one in the center a main jet?

Thanks!
Cody

(Diagram of the carb, I'm talking about numbers 92063A and 92063-49121/A-49123/A)

Post your Pics! / Mowerstompins "Turf Stock" Class Build 2013
« on: May 20, 2013, 09:46:02 pm »
This is the same class Zippy13n runs. We run with a set of rules based off of ARMA but changed with the agreement of group. I've got a good bit of pictures here to post up and would have posted them as I built but I couldn't remember too. I have a bunch more pictures of the early stages but they are on my broken HTC which I might can get off one day and post them up. Anyways, I'll get some better ones but these are the ones I've tookin with this not so good new phone haha.

Still got a bit more to do, like getting the motor right, painting and a bit more body work.

I'ma try to get the old ones from when I first started one day soon.

Thanks guys, Cody.

Kohler Engines / Kohler cv15 carb
« on: April 24, 2013, 01:54:15 pm »
Has anyone tried a Briggs 28 carb on a kohler single? Same size just different design. The Briggs one has a bigger bowl and seems to have more adjustment for it. The kohlers one has a air fuel screw that has a plastic end on it but the adjustment is very limited and I can't seem to get that carb to work out so I was going to try the one off the Briggs 28 flathead (forgot model can get it after work). Has anyone tried it?

Thanks, Cody.

Kohler Engines / Flywheel
« on: April 11, 2013, 09:13:23 am »
Would any other billet flywheels work for a kohler command single? Kinda like how you can use a intek flywheel on a oppy with the oppy ring gear and hub. Anyways, just wondering. Thanks!

Tires / kenda
« on: December 09, 2012, 01:26:19 am »
Has anyone tried the Kenda super turfs? I'm trying to decide whether to get them or the Cheng shin tires. I'd rather get the Cheng shin turf master look alikes but I'm having trouble finding the Cheng shins, but can find the kenda super turfs pretty easy. I was just wonderin how good they are and if anyone has tried them.

Anyways, searched kenda and didn't get any good results with people saying there thoughts on them.

Anyways thanks guys.

Briggs Flathead / 28ci rebuild problem
« on: August 03, 2012, 04:11:12 pm »
So im rebuilding a 28ci (289707), im not using a rebuild kit i just took it apart to clean it out and inspect it. Ive reseated and lapped the valves, ported the intake a bit, cleaned a bunch of parts that could be cleaned. Ive changed the intake valve to have the exhaust retainer on it. My problem is the piston fits real snug, and when i connected it to the rod it moved pretty easy then after i torqued the rod bearing down it became very hard to turn over, i put it all together figuring i could turn it if i had the flywheel on, well i cant even turn it over with the flywheel on by hand. Did i torque the rod bearing down to much? I dont think i did but i might have? Would this cause it to be very hard to turn over? I figure it would turn over pretty easily but it wont. I also dont have any slack at all (that i can tell) in the crankshaft (if im not mistaking there is suppose to be a little slack in between there).

Anyways, any help would bw great. I know ive screwed up somewhere just not sure where haha.

Thanks, Cody

Briggs Flathead / Bolt crank has removable essentrics?
« on: July 23, 2012, 01:06:17 pm »
Im currently rebuilding my 28ci (289707), reseating/lapping valves, port polish, and just a lot of cleanin. Im going to be ordering a billet flywheel, dogbone, ohv rod, cam before long but my main question here is, i thought only the cranks with the nut have removable essentrcs, yet i have two of the same 12.5hp 28s and both have a bolt and removable essentrics? I thought only the cranks with the nuts had the removeable essentrics? I was just wondering why these have it and if they'll be good to use for brass counters down the road? I only see people talking about the ones with nuts having the removable essentrics not the ones with the bolt. Anyways thanks, just been wonderin.

Any info will be much appreciated.
Thanks! Cody
