Title: FB460V fly wheel
Post by: Doug on April 19, 2013, 01:14:25 am
can someone tell me if the arc fly wheel for the FB460V is the same as the fly wheel for the model 28 briggs minus hub and ring gear?

Thanks
Doug

ARC sells the 460 flywheel and probly the hub to. I think u have to get new ring gear. One of those either its 460 or 590. You have to bore out the brigs hub to fit.

DO YOU HAVE A FB460V FLYWHEEL FROM ARC? ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A BRIGGS FLATHEAD ARC WHEEL?

I think so because i know that 590 just needs different hub and ring gear so if thats case then yes it should with 460 just replace ring gear and hub.
What i would do before you put it on check see if its same size of flywheel as stock one just in case.

Does that mean I can use a Briggs flywheel on a Kawi fh721v if I get a different hub and ring gear

The only hub offered by ARC is for the fb460.

Your on the wrong end of the crankshaft. The hub would need a different taper put in it as well as a new keyway. Could probably be done fairly cheaply but you would need to figure out coil mounts and stuff like that... Way cheaper to just put an Intel in it lol...

So it's possible, then who could do it?

Any competent machine shop.. there are probably local machine shops in your town or nearby. Ask around check the phone book go by check the places out... Then decide who you want to do it... Its always good to know a good machine shop. As long as he doesn't have to make a new hub for the flywheel it should be fairly cheap but... Just hope you can figure out what to do with the ring gear...

One thing that may happen by machining out the hub is the hole gets to big and the flywheel sits very low on crank making it hard to deal with ignition installation. But not 100% sure on this just what I thought of when I was thinking the same thing. I had
the parts right in front of me to look at also and it will be tough. But a good machine shop should be able to make one for you.
