Coffee Shop / HOOSIERS ON CP
« on: December 03, 2014, 12:42:38 pm »
Last couple times have traveled there have been a couple fx style mowers that they run us all together. definate advantage they have over a cp. If they're going to run them with us, I was considering buying a set of hoosiers to throw on my cp and I can adjust to about 4" of offset. Has anybody ever done this? What where the results?

Coffee Shop / thumb throttle
« on: July 25, 2014, 08:19:32 am »
My buddy, crew chief, shadow, whatever you want to call him, has MS. He can move his right arm, hand and leg, but has no feeling in them, he has driven my mower around and has 2 problems with it. Can't clutch it as my clutch is on right side, & has trouble releasing throttle. We have decided to build him a mower, and he is not planning to try to race it unless he gets along better than he thinks he will and I'm hoping this will happen. Since he gets along fine with my brake we are putting his clutch pedal on left side, with a hand brake lever on steering wheel for left hand. I am wondering has anybody ran an atv type thumb throttle on steering wheel? I think this would be the answer for him as he rides his atv all the time and even thogh we can't feel it this is more natural to him. Thanks for the imput.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / valve adjustment maybe?
« on: June 30, 2014, 08:11:30 am »
Toying with a 31 briggs yesterday and kinda stumped. This was a engine I recieved on trade that the guy said never ran quite right. cleaned carb and fired right up but will idle at around 2grand only, and if you throttle up the govenor shoots it up to about 35 for a split second then buttterfly closes back to the 2grand mark, kind of coughs threw card ocasionally, if you manualy work throttle at carb it will rev up and runs just fine. So what I've done was put a known good carb on and basically have the same results, I never hooked up gov. but it won't idle unless I keep it at aroung 2grand, and it will rev up but ocasionall will spit back through carb. Any ideas? Thanks for any help!!!

Hey, as I read post I come across wany websites and explore on them and really enjoy seeing the photos and reading different groups rules and find many interesting ideas and parts outlets. Was just wondering about starting a feed of racing related websites, be it parts or organizations or just personal racing pages to see what's out there.

On 31 avs piston I'm needing rings and was wondering if numbers on piston is what I need to go off of to get the right rings or will engine model number be what I want? Next I need to know pitson to cylinder wall clearance and ring gap that should be what I need. I really appreciate all the great info given by all thanks in advance.

maybe this has been discussed and I've overlooked it, if so could someone tell me what link it is. On my drag car we run evacuators from valve covers to headers, has anybody done this and does it help, or does anybody run a fuel pump as a vac pump from crank case or valve cover and would this work with an ohv mower engine? Or am I overthinking AGAIN?

Coffee Shop / mtd help
« on: September 13, 2013, 06:00:07 pm »
we run a youth stock class, this is a absolute stock mower with non operating deck, and only mod allowed is a hand or foot throttle, we actually will take blades off mom or dad's mower and belt off pulleys, let the kids race and sharpen the blades for you while they do this. I have put a couple mowers together for kids who otherwise would never get the chance to do anything like this. Any how right now I got your basic mtd varidrive 12/38 mower, that will never go into nuetral an roll freely, if you shut mower off you can shift from forward to reverse, the brake will stop mower but you can smell belt slipping, is this an adjustment problem or do I just need to swap out transaxle?
