Briggs Flathead / Opposed Twin Ignition Problems (And Solutions)
« Last post by PK580 on Today at 01:12:02 PM »
I'm getting tired of replacing mags on my Briggs, I've probably replaced 2 coils this year and I've also changed over to non resistor plugs by NGK I don't remember what exactly they are but cross-reference to autolite 292s. They did help for a few weekends of riding around but then I had to ground out one of the leads to start. What are some ideas that would work as a new ignition system that isn't cost prohibitive. I've saw on a thread on here people running a type of crank trigger ignition. I am considering building something of the like using a solid state ignition from a late model GM truck. I do have a charging system also. I'm open to any ideas / suggestions so this would also be a general discussion board also.

I understand perfectly. Thanks so much!

My guess - use the 6x6.5 wheels and the 13x6.5-6 tires on front?

NP,  and that is a good combo.0

One last Q for today - Now my front tire / wheel options. I have on hand 13x6.5-6 and 15x6-6 tires. The 2 wheel sets I have are 6x6.5 and 6x8.

My guess - use the 6x6.5 wheels and the 13x6.5-6 tires on front?

Thanks birdman. So when you mention about cutting the lip are you talking about the bottom of rear frame "box"?

Yep, the line is right, but leave metal to turn out a new lip on the bottom.
It will be longer on the back. The lip will give strength without adding weight.

8 x 8 will be good on those tires.

If there is a thumbnail version of those links, that is what we need.
