Thanks for the information. What's the best way to get ahold of him?

Does anybody know if he's badk at working on heads? I've been wanting to send a head to him to have him flow it. But since I hear he's hard to get in touch with now.

Just curious if there's any difference in taper between the vertical shaft and horizontal shaft motor. A friend of mine is wanting do use a billet flywheel on his 8hp horizontal shaft motor. Thanks.

Tires / Re: Harden tires without tire oven.

No..... I pull garden tractors and we run turf tires 18-9.5-8 that's cut every other lug off. And my tires are fairly soft and like to harden them some. Since some of you guys run turf tires and thought I would ask on here.

Thought I'd ask to see if there's any way to harden tired without tire oven? I know kart racers use simple green to pull the oils out of the tire from their tire prep.

I used a K series engine aftermarket clutch hub that has the big hole in the center made for the threaded crank end for the Kohler engines. Then I drilled a new hole for the dowel pin to fit one of 3 holes on the flywheel and I also lightly sanded a few thousands off inside the hole so it will slip on the crank. Been running for 2 years now no problems.

Get you a sharpie. And do the whole taper and put the flywheel on it and spin it around then take it off and you will see where it's touching and where it's not. If its not. Then you got problems. Might have to buy a new flywheel hub.

Wouldn't worry about the rod much. I was running 12.9:1 compression ratio yesterday on my stock pulling tractor and its still good. I have a rod bearing in it tho. That's the only way 'Ive got the stock rod to live without galling up the crank at 6800 RPMs. Also if your gonna take the balancing shaft out, make sure you take the bearings out in both ends! I'm senting my head back to the shop to get milled some more to 15:1 compression ratio  :woo:  and probality upgrate the rod to a steel Honda rod that has rod bearings in it. I have to run stock parts. And they allow head work but no welding! I was lucky to get that much compression ratio. I ain't telling no secrets on here!  lol

Apearly I didn't look hard enough with the search bar. That's some good info. Wonder what they run now? The 820 with a direct drive to the engine with a cub cadet clutch?  Did it take the abuse? I might have to message him.

I see. That's good info. I was going to use chain driven jack shaft to the rear axle. So the 700 won't work so good, humm. The only reason why I wanted to stand the 700 up because I wanted to use the cub cadet clutch driveshaft system so I would avoid belts and pulleys. And use the chain jack shaft to change ratios.  But maybe the 820 might work. And they make a spool kit for it too. Ill have to see a 820 in person and see if it will work.

Haha George. Yes it's true. But the Honda has always been more reliable and cost effective. I have not built a kohler yet. I know there's more stuff for the kohler now than the Honda but... You get what you pay for!

I've been looking at this for a few months now since he told us when it's going to arrive. I'm a Honda fan as well as the kohler. But you can't beat a built kohler roller motor. But the price is nice on Honda and the clones.
