Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: Oil overload in a 15.5 28n

George the catch tank deal wins hands down. Blowing the oil out, I am starting to believe, has alittle to do with changing to a billet flywheel strange as it may sound. I am going to build me a PVC tank this week and do away with the vent into the carb Period. I had an issue today with either the clutch tension spring or just burning a belt which ever a blast for sure. The 700 tranny I got from you performed flawless so it is taken out of the picture. Oil over loading the engine and no go when asked all in all very satified the way the cart performed.  4th to high 3 to low I see a 7" engine pully in my future real quick.

Thanks all for the reply. Pulled the head this morning thinking blown gasket between cylinder and pushrod valley no sign of oil passing there gasket good but replaced anyway. Drilled the drain holes out bigger in the vent can assy thinking not draining quick enough. My build buddy told me this was not a 2 stroke, by the way I am accustom to racing Mx with, I was running one gear to low for the circle we had and running it way on top instead of in the meat and potato range. Mixed a 95 and 112 in the gas tank and had no problems with the engine then. I will eventally rig the catch tank but we run this thing tomorrow at 2 and was running out of my stress boundries. I have been building for 9+ months now and tomorrow we will induce labor and get this baby in the dirt. Thanks again for all the possibilities at which way to go. Wish I could figure out how to get a pic on here.  We have a love bug invasion here no black dots in the paint LOL.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Oil overload in a 15.5 28n

My crank vent seems to not be able to keep up with oil drain back into the crankcase. Instead it is pushing it up into the carb air cleaner boot and burning it. Have taken the vent apart and redrilled the tiny drain holes to keep up with the demand which has helped but not completely. Any Ideas, as to the why, would be welcomed at this point. This build has been in the process now for 9+ months and the race is Sunday and labor is over due trying to induce into delivery with minor pains. Do not really want to go the catch tank route but may have no choice. Thanks in advance
Oh fresh head/rings and gaskets.

Briggs Flathead / 18hp opposed twin flathead coil problem
« on: August 21, 2014, 06:34:34 am »
Need idea on a problem with the coil on this engine. Replaced it now twice the first time I thought it was just a defective coil from B&S but now a second time it lasted an hour then once again no more fire. Good strong magnet with ground wire disconnected and coil is dead can't continue to be the coil or can it?

Or front right corner over axle? Can make room where ever!!
