So many diff. opinions, so little time to evaluate them. I want to know the best fix to my 31avs to make sure I dont have problems with the avs system. Our rules on motor mods are very specific and limited. (you can review them at:
www.pukwanamowerracing.com., look under the Modified class engine rules ) No porting/polishing of any sort. We can shave the head for "proper seal
". Any internal part must me OEM from briggs, no billett this or aluminum that. Doesn't matter what motor it came out of, as long as we can order it from Briggs as an oem part. Ive been told to put an old style 28 crank in it with a bushing in the pan. If that's the best fix, will any 28 crank work and if not, exactly what do I need to get it together? Does putting the different crank in change anything as far as stroke or anything else that would effect power? Is there a non avs 31 or even 33 crank that would work and make more solid power or is the smaller 28 crank better because of less rotating mass? I am not an engine guy so please don't overwhelm me with technical info. Part numbers/links/etc will be very much appreciated! Side note, what carb would you suggest (Walbro model #). Maybe George H. can tell me which one they have would work the best and still be legal. We are currently in the build stage of the chassis and will have to be ready for test-n-tune by April 30 so I really need to get moving on this. Thank you a ton!!!!! in advance for your values advice!!
