Tecumseh Engines / Re: Mod x 17 ohv roller rockers
« on: November 18, 2020, 02:35:35 pm »
I think I would contact EC carb. That's where George would have made them. It can't hurt to ask.
Pretty sure Steve Bertrand of Bertrand Hydraulics made those for George, sadly neither one of them are with us anymore>

ive sent a few emails to precision cams and isky but can't get a reply back. I don't imagine any intek twin flywheels are being given away that I could make work but id consider buying a used one. id prefer to buy a used oppy regrind and flywheel or get ahold of one of those cam grinders to get one ground myself.

Call Precision cams,he answers his phone!!

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: 44 intek hard starting
« on: April 12, 2020, 08:54:43 am »
Hey guys buddy of mine has a built vtwin, billet wheel set full neg ,  really good honed block , stock pistons with new rings , arc rods, precision cheetah cam, 49 heads milled 110 , ec roller rockers, dual springs with stock push rods, , valves are set at .003, cam is installed  straight up , yes it has the hi torque starter a good battery, when he goes to whirl it over it it keeps jamming up on the compression stroke , any ideas, need a bigger batter , weak starter , internal issues , anyone run into this before or have any further ideas? Thanks I’m sure it’s been covered before just covering all my bases , cheers
I,d make sure you have a know good battery, good battery cables (i use 2 gauge) ,if those are good points to the starter then.
Have you checked flywheel key?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: intek 44ci sump question.

I want to replace the old style sump with the new style. I found one on eBay I just bought. Has the new style sump/oil pump cover. The date code of that engine was a 13 so it’s a 2013 but it is the new style. I’m hoping it fits.
Yes it will fit,you will need the pump drive shaft as it is different on the high volume pump than the standard one, hopefully your ebay sump comes with it!

I have a intek Vtwin built in 06 that I rebuilt a while ago due to bore wear from dirt ingestion. Motor has been running great since but after about 50 hours the oil pressure hot drops to around 15lbs and It was not that low after the rebuild. I thought that maybe the oil pump was damaged from the dirt and took it apart and it was a bit scored. I replaced it and the base plate but no change to oil pressure. You cant really see much of the oil bypass but I used a scribe to press against the spring and it seems to function. Anyway I am getting a new flywheel du bush and wanted to replace the plain bearing sump as well. I want to get all the parts before pulling it apart. I see that there is a newer style sump that appears to have a thicker georotor oil pump (the gears appear thicker) and that would by itself increase the volume. I was wondering if you can replace the old style sump with this newer style? Does anybody know if they can interchange?  The old sump has a round stamped steel plate where the new sump has a rounded triangle plate on it. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

No,you cant just replace the pump ,the sump is different to accept the high volume pump

« on: February 05, 2020, 09:23:44 pm »
What’s the purpose of the cooper head gasket?

on a flathead ,i see no reason to have one other than making a thinner one for less squish, other than that use a stock one

Chassis / Re: Frame reinforcement, arma rule change
« on: December 24, 2019, 06:29:05 pm »
New to this mower racing thing. Me and the boy started stripping down a old craftsman to run this summer. match stick frames will no longer be accepted in 2020 if built that year.  Question is how do we strengthen the frame if we cant use steel square stock? Or can we just needs to be covered?

I'm pretty sure their talking about frames made completely of box tubing,so i'm sure you can still use box tubing under the mower chassis to stiffen it up,like we've always been able to do

Chassis / Re: Piston facing rear pros n cons
« on: July 21, 2019, 09:34:56 am »
What are the pros n cons of the head towards the back? If i turn the engine around i would have more room for the starring going over the top and then put the battery up front.
You will,be much better off with engine facing forward, assuming you have a vertical engine  you will flood the#2 cylinder with oil and over time you will have issues
