Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: 44 v-twin cam timing
« on: April 15, 2014, 09:11:59 pm »
The flywheel key looks brand new i physically pulled the key and looked at it it was perfect. Heres my question the cam turns x2 times slower then the crank so couldnt the valve timing be off a 180 deg?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / 44 v-twin cam timing
« on: April 15, 2014, 06:54:39 pm »
got a 44 els v-twin briggs pulled the governor out so i can put a flywheel on it & i removed the cam without marking the timing mark on the cam & crank gear. I stupidly re assembled the engine with the crank gear dot & cam dot lined up. Went to start it and it is getting fuel & spark it is trying to fire throught the carb then i opened engine & rotaed the engine counter clockwise & 180 deg to line up again & now it is firing like on the exhaust it sounds like its trying but its definitly a timing issue is there a stock way to reset cam.

anyone know the parts tree # for a 49 briggs vtwin & also on parts tree when you select a part/number example 26 does everything in that box around that number come with it or do i have to buy each individual part like a piston is 26 and it will have 24 25 22 in the box with it do those come with the piston or do i have to order them seperatly.

These are what I used. The spiggot mount requires no specific mount. I use hose available at NAPA sold by the foot. I modified an intek aluminum manifold to mount them.
