Post your Pics! / UK race season kicks off
« on: May 05, 2006, 03:22:34 pm »
Just a few pics from our first Championship race of the season! Bottom one is of Tony on #25 discovering that Group 2's don't have THAT much traction in spite of the ag tyres - he tried to set off about three times before turning round to find that Stu and I had a hold of his trailer!

Tecumseh Engines / Another tacho question
« on: March 08, 2006, 02:15:15 pm »
Hi all,

Does anyone know of a suitable tacho for a Kohler single cylinder unit. I'm looking for a "proper" tacho with a scale and a needle in it - not one of these new fangled digital things!

I've seen some auto type ones but not for a single cylinder - I read somewhere that they will give the wrong reading on a single and I don't really want to stick a home made scale on it so it reads right!!

Any ideas/pointers?

Here I am trying to avoid the softest cow pats at a meeting last year - it's not ALWAYS muddy!

Here's one showing our two types of Group 2 - on the left is a Group 2 roller, and my machine (#7) is a Group 2 Wheels. We only race these in the northern club (NWLMRA) They are not allowed in the southern club (BLMRA) as they come from a commercial rather than a domestic background.

Here's my mate John going for it on his Group 2 roller:

These are what we call group 3's - based on Westwood Lawnbugs and usually with a tecumseh 10 horse lump:

And this is what we call Group 4 - more like what you guys will recognise.

Here's a closer pic of my old group 2 roller so you can see underneath - that's a metal roller underneath with tyre tread bolted to it - it's not what you'd call a smooth ride!! When the track gets rough you feel every little bump - though these are actually a lot lighter to drive than the Group 2 wheels. The Scag (#7) weighs in at something in the region of 140kg without me on it.

Here's a night shot from the 2005 12 hour

Here's our 12 hour machine in it's stock colours:

Here it is a bit later:

Here it is in the middle of the night - don't the reflective numbers work well?!

And here's team captain John crossing the line at 8am the next morning:

More later!
