they duro around 55-60 they are good if you run on hard packed tracks that take rubber on like those who run with karts that leave a lot of prep on the track. Or can be prepped down to have the bite of a 30 but better wear. wasn't sure if guys running fx would like a harder option to get the better wear or not. I ran mine last week for the first time in the 12/9/6 version and once you got a couple laps on them they didn't feel like they had any less grip then the 30 I have ran. in fact once it got dark the moisture came back up and I ended up getting locked down and killed my speed because it was biting so hard

Tires / hoosier tires

Would anybody be interested in a hoosier 12/8/6 in a 50 or 55 compound. I'm looking to see if there is a market  on the mower side to help sway them into making them. On my karts i'm required to run a 50 duro tire on the rr and want to run a 6.5 tire on the left rear but that gives me way to much stagger they won't make a taller 6.5 but would make a harder 12/8/6 if there is a market for it .

what is the exceptable tollerence on that? They do sell the pto side bushing and it has the same od and the pto side on the crank is 1.575 and flywheel side is 1.573 think'n maybe i can get by with just another pto side bushing

We have a gator 6x4 that has one of these and the crank bushing seized up on it. Contacted deere and they say they can;t get a new bushing have to get a new block for a cool g. or new motor for 1900. They said they were going to check with kaw to see if they can get just the bushing. my quiestion is if they can't what material should i use to have one made out of . the old one was almuinum but was thinking or going brass like i have seen in several old briggs flathead kart motors. anybody else done this before

using it and wraping it around isn't as bad as i have heard of several people who just shove them in a bucket and do that. not thinking about the fact that if the sidewall would blow that sucker would come up out of the bucket like a rocket. i have also seen guy use the thin wratchet straps and seen them snap. I build my own tire bands pretty simple just some 20 gauge sheet steel ,angle iron, all thread and some square tubing

you should never use an oil based lube. it will never go away and can cause the tire to slip on the wheel. Also you may want to look into a tire band from a kart shop. This 5 gallon bucket thing scares the bejesus out of me. I know Rocketboy tires has a new band on the market you may want to check them out.

side to side is just the simple fact that the tire is wider doesnt have anything to do with wheel size. you can get up to 9 in wide 6 in tires.guess i'll just try it for myself my mower is going to be running 12/9/6 kart tires

Try this:  Take a 16x7.50-8 and a 13x6.50-6 tire, wet the bottom of both and press straight down onto a dry piece of cardboard.  You'll easily be able to see why the 8" hooks better, because the taller tire not only has a wider contact patch, but also a longer one.

wider front to back or side to side?

i have seen this a few times on here and i still dont understand where the idea that you get better traction with a taller tire. Are you guys changing gear ratio when you go to the bigger tires? this is the only way i can see getting"better grip" with bigger tires is if you dont change gears to match the increase on roll out. on our winged outlaw karts they push 100 hp with the open 500 2 stroke bike motors and have no problem hooking up 6 in tires.
