Post Your Video / USLMRA Races at 2014 Charlotte AutoFair
« on: April 07, 2014, 10:14:27 pm »
Stopped by the track and watched the races for a while when I was at the AutoFair on Sunday. Most of the videos don't cover the entire race since I would typically quit recording if there was a caution. Or in the case of the BP race, I waited until the 2nd (or 3rd was it?) restart to start recording.

The classes should be labeled correctly, but please feel free to correct me if they aren't.

The thought of building a racing mower has been on my mind for a long time now, and after seeing the G/P Class, that may be the route I go in the future since it doesn't require spending the money to build an ungoverned motor that won't fragment itself. However, aside from some good 'ol boys out in the sticks who mess around on a track in the woods, there's no actual mower racing near me that I know of, anyway. We'll see where I end up in a few months since I'll be moving soon.

Briggs Flathead / Walbro Carb Fuel Fitting
« on: May 14, 2009, 08:16:36 pm »
Perhaps the one thing that's keeping me from getting the Dynamark running is the fuel fitting on the carb. When I got it, I found the fuel line to be cut up with a section containing a filter laying on the frame. On the carb, there is a short fuel fitting that sticks out about 1/4" to 3/8" with a couple threads on it.

Is there another fitting that goes on this one?
If so, where can I get it? (Already tried the hardware store and NAPA)

Does the fitting in the carb itself come out?
If so, what size hose barb will fit in place of it? I noticed the G-Team carbs (http://cgi.ebay.com/Racing-Lawn-Mower-Carb-New-Briggs-and-Stratton-Walbro_W0QQitemZ320136646815QQihZ011QQcategoryZ82248QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting) already have them.

Thanks in advance!

Driveline / Foote Transaxle Locked-Up - Won't Shift
« on: May 14, 2009, 07:53:11 pm »
On the '94 Dynamark I recently bought, the transaxle refuses to shift into gear. Fortunately, it was parked in neutral. It's a 5 speed Foote and I believe it to be a 4360 although I haven't gotten the numbers off of the case. When the wheels are turned and you try to put it into gear, you can feel the gears touching, but it just won't go. Any suggestions regarding how to get it into gear?

If not, would a Peerless 930 6 speed do decent in racing? From what I understand, the 600s and 800s are the best (besides a live axle setup), but I found a 930.

Post your Pics! / Possible S/P Build
« on: May 14, 2009, 07:27:00 pm »
A few weeks ago, I was out at a mower repair shop and junkyard that belongs to a guy I know getting some blade adapters for an MTD. I had been looking for a racing tractor project on and off over the past few years, and so, just wondering, I asked him if he had any tractors with a Briggs 12 horse in them. We went out to the rows of tractors and after checking 2 or 3, found a '94 Dynamark with a 12.5 hp Model 28. I asked how much, and when he said $25 I about crapped my pants since I regularly see the motors alone go for $40+. A week later I got it home, but had to put it in my aunt's garage since mine's currently filled, along with the shed.

This is what it looked like when I first got it:

The motor is like new. The oil's clean and so is the filter as well. I'll pull the head off one of these days to check it out inside.

The initial pictures were taken on my phone, so they're not the greatest. Once I got the deck off and got it up on jackstands, I took some better ones.

If you've noticed, that is not the original hood. I have no idea where the original is but this is what it should look like:

But, the hood that's on there now will work for a while. I don't think it will be USLMRA or ARMA legal, though.

Its fate still hangs in the balance, though. The 43" deck is in real good shape with only surface rust on the underside, and I can have it cutting grass for under $60; or make a good turnaround on it. Only the left rear tire has a leak which I'll patch up for now, but the "wonderful" Foote transaxle is locked in neutral. It wants to shift but just can't go the whole way into 1st or reverse. Tnere's body rust, but I know where there are a couple more sets of fenders and mostly complete bodies.

But my question to you guys is: Is the tractor worth building up for racing in the USLMRA S/P or ARMA Sportsman class? Obviously, it's a mostly stock tractor and will take some work. The frame is in good, almost rust-free shape, and the running boards are part of it, making the frame pretty wide. The transaxle will probably have to go in favor of a Peerless, but that's ok.
