BIG Changes are coming to ALL AMERICAN for 2013. FOR the first time it will truly be an independent event as I have always wanted. As it was always an event where ALL can come together it still remains so but now it’s truly independent and FULLY insured. With that said the all American will revert back to its original name, THE ALL AMERICAN MOWER CHAMPOIONSHIPS. While we will always remember Sam, its time to move on love and miss ya buddy. Over the years this event has continued to be the biggest single stand alone event in the country. The biggest diversity and variety of clubs and drivers from across the US and Canada gathered in one spot. IT takes allot to make this happen and we are already actively looking for event sponsors and even class sponsors. If you’re interested please give me a shout. The will be the best ever. Dates are as follows

Nov. 1st Open practice
Nov. 2nd registration and tech and then Qualifying.

J/P class sponsor is taken as always by JSE racing. (Joe's Small Engines) Long time sponsor for this class and you never know what he is going to surprise the class with.

Well have talked it over with fiance and if mowers aren't wrecked and funds let us, we are going to make the trip from South Dakota. I hope things go well, cause we are both excited to go, looks fun. I hoping there will be a class that we are able to be in. If someone could look at our rules at www.pukwanamowerracing.com and tell me what class we would be able to race in that would be cool. We have two modifieds if someone could tell me. Thanks Richard

From what I can see, you would most likely be in sp or Cp. BUT!!!!! You have to have a billet flywheel. You would have to talk to a tech person and see.

BILLET FLYWHEELS MANDATORY for any ungoverned engine. No exception to this rule!!!

Post by: George Herrin on April 16, 2013, 02:49:52 pm
After reading the rules the closest class you will fit is the Mod-x/cp class BUT the fact your run no govner you MUST have the billet flywheel. Thats amndatory with my insurance and our rules. ANYTHING over 3650 rpm its mandatory.

All right the call is going out to the Mini's and Ap's, I'm going to try my best to be there racing this year, I have done the All American twice, but only as a track official, this time I want to race. I will still help George anyway he wants. So with that being said, lets get the small engines together and see what shakes down, I guess it will be the flaties againist the OHV's, but in the end it will be for fun and good times! Lets play!

Let's just speculate.    IF I get done with harvest and CAN attend what is the parking situation for toy haulers?   Is there power in the pits for campers?  If not can we run a generator all night?    What is the weather like that time of the year?  Can we stay "extra" days?   Will I ruin a tire on my FXT?

G.   Come to Iowa and help me pound out harvest so I can destroy a tire!!!!!!!

IF I get done with harvest and CAN attend what is the parking situation for toy haulers?
We havnt run out of room yet!!

Quote
Is there power in the pits for campers?
No they do have a camping area with elect and water 15 spots I think first come first serve. They are maybe 100 yds from the track.

Quote
If not can we run a generator all night?
yes you can no problems at all.

Quote
What is the weather like that time of the year?
We have never been rained out yet!!! We have had short sleeves on friday, damp and cold on Saturday and wake up to light snow on Sunday all in the same weekend. We are generally mid 30's at night mid 60's in the day. 80% of the races have been held in very nice comfortable weather. BUT ya never know.

Quote
Can we stay "extra" days?
Absolutely its a public park and visitors are welcome.

Will I ruin a tire on my FXT? Anything is possible but not likely. if this year holds true to the last two years it will be the only track you run that can take what ever HP you throw at it. Thats if you can hold on to it...Pulling the front tires off the corners is common at this track.

Quote
Come to Iowa and help me pound out harvest so I can destroy a tire!!!!!!!
I would not be much help as I am not a farmer...

I apologize guys, I posted earlier this year that I would be at the All American, I now realize that I would have to run my flathead up againist some of the OHV engines, I know the OHV's are faster and it's just too long a trip to a finish that's unobtainable unless someone breaks.

I have in the past helped George with this event and from my experience it is indeed a fantastic experience. I encourage all to go that can.

Well, this sucks!  I was looking forward to the chance to run against one of the fastest flatties in the country, it would have been an honor to be on the same track.

George, who would I run against IF I was to be the only AP in attendance?  I assume it would be CP?

Are we running under the Arma Rules? We have some that like to start rumors and I would like to know a base rule book to go by so I can have a lesson with them.. Thanks

Not exactly BTMRA rule book loosely based from arma loosely being key word. Rules are at www.btmra.smfforfree2.com or www.allamericanmowerchampionships.yolasite.com. All associations classes are legal all independant clubs are legal No one will get turned away or loaded on the trailer unless they get ignorant with my staff or their machine is simply unsafe and not fixable. Tech will class machines inthe class they best fit. May the best racer win. We want all to come celebrate the sport of mower racing race hard and have a great time.

Thanks for the kind words, but as Clint once said, "A man has gotta know his limitations" The best built flattie out there would be hard pressed to beat a OHV. NOTE: The last thing I want to do is to start that debate again, it just is what it is. I'd love for you to make the trip up to the Nats in NC next month, sadly it will be my last race, so I plan to race hard, if either machines blow, it will just make a better coffe table in my front room. I've been told that I will remain single a long time if I do this, sounds like a plan to me?

You guys worry too much about the rules. The very nature of this event is for every one to come together for this one weekend and just RACE.  George and his staff do a great job organizing and administering this event. And it is an EVENT. Way more than just a race. You win the All American and you get to brag (deservedly) for an entire year. You are racing with the very best our sport has. The tech officials find a place for everyone to race. If you are running decent and getting around  the track pretty good....a 1/2 inch of seat height or  a little variation in tread width  or ride height isn't going to make or break you. I can't believe it when I hear someone say.."well...I don't have a chance to win...so I'm just not gonna go."  Come on....take a chance...race your heart out and may the creme rise to the top.

Will, ever heard the saying "Dont bring a knife to a gun fight"? I'm all for racing as hard as possible and enjoying all the comarade of the racers. But I also like to win, I have no plans to haul my stuff 12 hours one way just to get out gunned by a larger and totally different engine. want to race apples to apples? I'm in, but not againist a stacked deck to begin with. This particular situation I'm in is like anyone showing up and being put in a class two steps higher than you normally run. In ARMA, this is like putting my 8hp Mini up againist our Pro-X.

Im not fussing at you, just understand my side of it.

Bit harsh there when you don't know the full extent of it. I have to agree with Tommy here I personally know both arma and us machines abilities and the best arma  mini/ap which Tommy's is doesn't have a chance against the new ohv's of us ap's ou cubes and out motored in every way. It's about the racin sure but we all wanna be competitive when we show up while I think the 8 up flattie he runs would be decent it's only chance against a ohv would be if they had trouble even I don't wanna win the biggest race of the year like that. So this subject is done back to the All American race bout a month away everyone get em ready and cleaned up and let's get ready for a great weekend.

I didn't intend to specify Tommy. The  intent was to reiterate the idea of the racing spirit.  I've seen him run once before...down in South Carolina and he impressed me. That little motor was just buzzing and he was getting around the track too. In fact...if that sticky Alabama gumbo is as good as it was last year...I firmly believe he would be very competitive, regardless of engine size or configuration. Regardless..I hope I didn't offend....and if I did , I appolagize.

Tommy, I rarely post any more but, you are 100% correct.  I saw…first hand, just a couple weeks ago, an AP with a Honda GXV OHV in it…….it was bored to over 28ci. Hmmm….FX- Lite?
There was no fight, it dominated and lapped everything.  This is not comparing apples to apples. So why waste your time if you have a flat head?. There is no comparison. They now have a CP engine in an AP.

Tom.....on the upside....FYI, your Briggs Flat head you built the wife is still a rocket ship, as well as the Kawasaki Flat Head you and George collaborated on. Both are just plain sick and running like Banshee's.

App 175 to 180 foot straights app 35ft radius turns 30ft wide straights 42 ft wide turns. and if we can get and keep the moisture in the track as in the past couple years of the All american being there traction my boy is not a problem.. Its pure old red ALABAMA red clay nothing like you ever seen.

For those that haven't made it to a race here...you should! Its quite possibly the perfect size.  Its long enough to race on..even supermodified...but not so long as to have too high mile per hour.  The surface is tacky, and holds moisure well. It turns black quickly but dosnt get hard and dry. An outside groove develops and with the width of the track there is plenty of racing in the top groove. If your mower will handle, you can easily pass on the outside...even in the turns. And folks I want to tell you..its a sight seeing three or four supermodifieds driving down into that third turn and all of them driving different lines. The track will soak up ALL the power you can throw at it...and there will be wheelstands aplenty. The people of Stevenson are nice friendly people that support the AllAmerican  in a big way. Theres plenty of good parking...good food and a festival atmosphere.  As I mentioned before...George and his crowd do a fine job administering the race and they find somewhere for everyone to race. I will warn you however...your mower will be throughly inspected and it WILL be safe before you are allowed to get on the track. So do all your work at home and sail right thru the tech line. Hope to see yall there.

Let me displace some rumors I have ben called and ask about!! Collins your steering is just fine whom ever told you other wise doesnt have a clue to what there speaking of.
Yes we are fully insured, more so than some other big associations. Go to the All american website the info is on the first page not hiding anything there!! We are proud of it.
No you dont have to be a memember of any group including ours to come and race!!
No fees have not tripled look at past years fees yes we are charging yes the venue charges everyone 5.00 a person that covers you for all weekend. Folks its a reality its costs to play!!!
Yes its true no politicking allowed at this event. You coming to start anything be warned now you will be ask only once to leave. Try it and see what happens.
Yup we will not tolerate intentional rough driving you will be given 1 warning only consider this one it!!
Yes it is very possible that some may not get to run in the feature event. I say possible. If a class is determined to be to large to run every machine at one time then we will have to make the call in the name of safety. Understand this event is huge. We have had over 150 mowers in past years. So the possibility is there!!!
Myself and my staff expect everyone to come have a great time thats what we are there to do is provide you the racer an awesome weekend of family fun, great SAFE racing. Understand my staff is all volunteer. I have no major sponsorships this year budgets are tight!!!  Where does the moneys go from the entry fees you ask!! trophy's cost money, insurance cost money, electronic scoring costs money thats where it all goes, so its all voluntary because we want to do so not because we are paid to do so or made to do so therefor treat my staff with respect, if you feel there is an issue speak to us calmly dont bring your whole crew/posse to jump on my staff members as it will be your last time as a welcome racer to this event. We put this event on of our own accord for you the racers. If any of these terms dont suit you then stay home as we the staff nor our wonderful venue want you there.
So now that you have heard it from the horses mouth please if you enjoy racing and fellowship with like minded racers from across the nation and abroad then this event is done for you. Its your event to enjoy and we will work our tails to off to make it the best possible event you will remember for a long time.
Weekend Tentative Schedule:
Nov. 1st

Nov. 2nd

Saturday  each class will have two 5 minute rounds of practice /qualifying. Depending on size of fields and the amount of racers we are only gonna garauntee 1 5 minute round of practice per class. Practice times being recorded and heat grids will be based on those times. Heats will be 15 laps. Depending on amount of mowers multiple heats is possible. We won't know this till race day. Features on Sunday will be grid by heat finishes.

Nov. 3rd
SUNDAY 9:30 to 11 safety tech 11: 15 Drivers meeting (no practice). 12:00 features begin Trophy presentation to follow. No practice, Feature's will be 30 laps except for stock class. They will run 3 lap heats and 5 lap features. May the best racer win?

I have found the costs of attending this event to be very reasonable...especially for a national event of this caliber.  This is an excellent venue with plenty of good parking....shade....even great food at the concessions. There is no gouging going on. To put this in perspective... At a recent karting event in South Carolina the gate fee was $20 for everyone. The competitors were paying $200 just to secure a favorable pit selection...and the concessions.... $20 for a couple of hotdogs and a soda. That makes the All American a relative bargain.  I've said this before...everyone needs to attend this event at some point. This is the pinnacle of our sport...you will be competing againt the best of the best. The track is very well prepared...and will hold every drop of horsepower you can throw at it. No temporary hay bale track here...its a permanant facility. George and his crew administer the race professionally and impartially. One warning however...come with a well prepared machine that is within the published safety regulations...if not you will go thru the tech line until it is.

He was reached in seconds and handle by some of the best in the business. I personally have had 5 of various levels since I been racing mowers that's part of my memory issues now.  I know the seriousness or possibilities they can present. Well i have had time to wind down... I have lost my cell!!! I have had very slow and limited net up till today!!
I would like to take a minute to THANK my staff for the ALL American. I do believe this was the best worked and smoothest AAMC we have had to this point I could not have asked for a better crew. Dawn of J&M Electronic Scoring did one fantastic job. Smooth as silk and even the loss of power didnt even hold her up but for a minute or so. Thanks for an awesome job and a pleasure to work with Dawn. Turn out was a tad down BUT it was a blessing in disguise. 75 mowers put on one of the best cleanest events  ever. Racing was awesome from start to finish. STEVENSON ALABAMA and the fine folks there have the most beautiful facility hands down. They provided another awesome track VERY smooth this year, the leaves in full swing of color change made waking up every morning a sight to behold with the water all around. Ted and his crew did another awesome job. Highland Medical with the mobile Hospital wow what a rig.The stevenson Fire dept. again outstanding job. Folks this event just continues to be a breath of fresh air and simply put the finest event in the country. And last and most importantly you the racers. Thank you all so much for making another one that will be hard to top!!! and if you missed the 4 wide Super mod salute to the fans parade lap to finish the show out WOW that was so awesome. Gave me goosebumps. I reckon that will now be a permant part of the show. Oh wait what about that lil gal Beverly Gott singing the National Anthem. Never before not ever has a rendition ever put tears in my eyes but that one sure did!!! Thanks gurl for a beautiful job singing. from the heart. Thanks again and start planning now for next year the 2014 dates are  Nov. 7,8 and 9th. see ya there.
