Its not a matter of ignoring or not caring. You must realize some of us were building these before the rules were made. Some interpret the rules a differently. These classes should allow more diversity in building. set a max width, taking a square channel frame and simply widening it from its original width by a mere 2-3 inches is far cheaper and easier than building a third frame rail and using 3 bearings on an axle. I mean jeeze they dont look like they used to anyways. these two classes are the elite the PRO SERIES so to speak. let us build it give a base line measurement and be done with it. For that matter why not allow a squre tube frame 1x2 for example. It would be easier and more cost effective than trying to make a flimsey wore out mower chassis hold up to the fastest class out there. Just my two cents. I aint gonna lie to ya. I been 15" wide from day 1 way back been racing them from the beginning. tech has never said anything. For that matter mine look more like a mower than many. I use real mower decks to boot. it dont matter to me they are built and i am not gonna change them even if it means stay home and play in my own back yard. I truly dont see where its a big deal. The only advantage is it leaves me more money and time to use elsewhere.
Exactly benewco we can scracth build a fx frame but we are restricted on these. And also the same size wheel and tore on the same axle WHY FX can run stagger yet the pro series to top teer classes cannot!!! OK I am done!!! AND BTW if you look hard enough you will see there are a few scratch built frames already running. they aint no faster than anyone else either.
well put.......to be honest I really don't think when the rules were made initially or even now, that they thought of this instance, for one because we are pioneering this particular class and are still learning what makes it safer and easier to build, not to mention more affordable with less parts breakage.....Our goal here should be balance and (fairness) there is no way this particular issue gives an advantage.....also some myself included are building a new chassis almost ever year to capitalize on what we are learning though out the year previously. therefore I think rules should be up for discussion and possible change due to these factors......just my .02......
now....As a side note, I personally really like this class and I can tell you for a fact, that It has a good future in the racing industry. Reason being its a spectator magnet...!!!! It's good for the clubs and racing organizations as far a revenue, and spectator attendance...!!!!
