Coffee Shop / Digatron 46-KL Tach
« on: September 08, 2013, 05:19:29 pm »
Has anyone used a Digatron 46 KL tach?  It is pretty reasonably priced and I was wondering if anyone has used one and how it worked.  It measures tach and cylinder head temps.  Any info would be appreciated.

Wow--we made it through our first USLMRA WV race!! Even though there was rain in the forecast all weekend, the skies remained sunny and shined on our racers both days! There are SO many people to thank--First, to Connie and Jim Skidmore and their ENTIRE staff at the Elkins Raceway. On Thursday, the entire track and pit area was under water from flooding from torrential rains on Wednesday, but Jim and his crew worked very hard to get our track ready. During race weekend, Jim and Tim Ashe kept working the track to make it the best they could and their efforts are greatly appreciated. Many thanks to Kerry Evans, Chrissy and Richard Webb and their staff of the USLRMA for their hard work and SUPPORT! Thanks to the racers who made the trip and for their kind works and support. Luckily no ropes, chains or "body part" spreaders were necessary (inside joke!).  We had racers from Michigan, Ohio, Maryland, Illinois,....they traveled quite a distance to come share the weekend with us, and I hope they all had a good time. There were a few tumbles, but luckily no injuries!  On a personal note, many thanks to Tim Coberly, Mike McSpadden and James Biller for helping Danny with his three mowers this weekend. Even though he lost a transmission in the SP mower, he had a good showing--and now is 4th in points in the GP class; 4th in the CP class; and 13th in the SP class--NOT BAD FOR HIS ROOKIE SEASON!!!! We are looking forward to seeing everyone again at the season finals in Delaware, OH in two weeks. Thanks again--Sarah

Yes, you can camp at the track, but there are no hook-ups or shower facilities.  Also, we met with the track officials and there is a grader and water truck and the track can be relocated at any time if it rains.  A small oval track will be constructed using part of the front straight of the existing track and will be about 180 feet.  The track is running their weekly Friday night car racing this week as well, so anyone coming in Friday night will be parked in an area until the racing is over, and then relocated to our designated area.  I'd like to get an idea of how many racers are coming.  Thanks everyone!

USLMRA Races / August 31-September 1 USLMRA Race in West Virginia
« on: August 07, 2013, 06:55:57 am »
The 77th Mountain State Forest Festival "Mowing in the Mountains" USLMRA event will be here soon.   Here is some information regarding the race which will occur Labor Day Weekend, August 31 and September 1, 2013, at the Elkins Speedway in Kerens, WV (zip 26276).

If you use mapquest, use “Elkins Speedway (not raceway), Kerens, WV  26276.  The location is right off of Route 219, about 7 miles North of Elkins.  For some reason, “Elkins Raceway” takes you about 1 ½ hours away near Mingo, so be sure your map shows the location off Route 219 and near Elkins.  The speedway web is www.elkinsracewayway.net; and the Mountain State Forest Festival site is www.forestfestival.com.

The speedway will allow you to camp, but there are no hookups or shower facilities.  Here is a listing of hotels, all in Elkins and within 10 miles of the racetrack:

Holiday Inn Express (304-630-2266); Super 8 (304-636-2989); Iron Road Inn (304-637-1888); Hampton Inn (304-630-7500); Days Inn (304-637-4667); Isaac Jackson Hotel ( or Elkins Motor Lodge, 304-636-1400); Econolodge (304-636-5311).

Elkins also has several restaurants, including Applebees, Wendys, Hardees, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, Dominos, McDonalds, Burger King, and many others.

Also, a WV filmmaker plans to be in attendance and film the racing action and perform interviews.

If you have any questions or need assistance, call me at 304-678-6416 and I’ll do my best to help.  Hope you can make it!!!  Sarah

Non-Affiliated Races / Local Race Needs Racers on June 22
« on: June 07, 2013, 02:56:00 pm »
I know this is last minute, but a friend of mine asked me to post this.  A local celebration, Coalton Days, is wanting to have a race on June 22.  Mower racing originated at this event several years ago, but there are only a couple local racers who have racing mowers now.  Coalton is in West Virginia (zip code 26257 for GPS purposes).  Would anyone out there be interested in coming for this race?  It would occur around 4:00 pm, with normal safety and technical rules in place.  Response is needed ASAP, either by posting to this site, or call 304-678-6266 or 304-642-5566 for more information.  Thank you!    Also, the guy that approached us would like to build this into a national event next year.

USLMRA Races / Re: West Virgina???
« on: April 13, 2013, 09:48:16 pm »
On our end, it is a go.  It will happen August 31 and September 1 at Camp Pioneer in Beverly, WV (www.camppioneerwv.com), as an event of the Mountain State Forest Festival. More information concerning the event and the area will be forthcoming soon.  If you have specific questions, you can email me at fastgal20@yahoo.com.  It will be a new track and (hopefully) a covered arena.  There is camping (with and without hookups) at the facility, as  well as men's and women's dorms, which will also be available.  A list of hotels will also come soon---they are about 6 miles away.  We are very excited!!!  The weekend will also be a tribute to firefighters and first responders, and everyone else providing a service to our country and cities and towns (military, police, etc.)  Special events regarding this celebration will be announced.  We hope to have a large turnout for this race, both racers and spectators....hopefully this will become an annual event.  The facility is very beautiful and in a relaxing country setting.  Thanks!!!  Sarah

USLMRA Races / Help for WV Race
« on: December 08, 2012, 02:22:45 pm »
Are there members on here that would be willing to assist in bringing a national points race to north central WV?  I am working on an event that will be a tribute to firefighters and first responders and one of the events I'd like to have is a national points race.  I am close to getting a facility, but need a little more help to get it off the ground.  There will be other events taking place that day as well...check out my facebook page:  http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Organizing-a-FiremenFirst-Responder-Appreciation-Day/479800055398186.  Right now I am looking at August.
