Briggs Flathead / Arma Mini rules clarification.
« on: November 23, 2012, 08:40:19 pm »
Alright so I'm going to FINALLY be building my mini/ap up soon and want to comply with both major organizations rules. In the Uslmra's rules it states max of 22ci. Ok so that means I can run my tvm 220. But I also have an 8hp briggs I need to put together with a Don G stroker crank that puts my briggs at 22 ci would that be legal in Arma. I know my 220 wouldnt be.
The Arma rules says 8.5 hp and under and 19 c.i. but im not sure If I'm allowed to increade my 19 ci briggs to 22ci. Help please.
Thanks

USLMRA Races / Kids stock? Please
« on: January 21, 2012, 07:32:56 pm »
Hey guys and gals. I'm sitting here looking at my four younger sibblings and want to know if we could get a kids stock class kinda like woo has? Ryans son is a good example. Every race that I go too I could have these 3 older ones and my cousin Bradley and my friends son. Ivwas thinking like 5 or 6 up to the age you can race in jp that would be five people almost definatly then I'm sure more would join too. It's just an idea. Mods if you want to delete this you can just stating an idea

Briggs Flathead / Fuel pump
« on: January 21, 2012, 04:45:00 pm »
How can you add a fuel pump to an 8hp Briggs. It would have to be a vaccum pump as the rules say no electric if I read right. And would it even be legal? Cuz it wouldn't fit under the appear stock rule and if it's not listed it's a no. I do have other alternatives but a pump would be easiest.

Coffee Shop / how everyone breaks in thier motors
« on: January 15, 2012, 09:49:34 pm »
Like the title says, how do you break in your motors, I wont post my twostroke info here because we dont have twostroke classes, if you want it pm me.
as far as me and 4 strokes, i havnt built to many yet, but regardless my theory in breaking my motor in goes like this. when assembling check everything ALOT of times, clearances, ring gap rod tollerence etc all of it. put real cheap lightweight oil in it and spin it by hand and if aplicable rotate the motor. then drain the oil, this will remove most stray particles. then run a good lightweight oil or breakin oil and start the motor up for about 5 minuetes and let it idle. while idleing check for leaks throught out tthe whole motor. once the motor gets warm, shut it off  and allow time for it to cool, while cooling change your oil and run what your going to run everyday, now this time start it up and ride the thing like your going to ride it at all times, so what i mean in lawnmower racing is get in race gear and get to wot and let the motor do all the decelration, in short this will cause pressure to seat your rings closer to your cylinder walls than slowly building up the rpm, and what this dos is allows your rings to hold more pressure and not cause as much blow by due to poorly set rings. The first about 20 minutes in a motors life is one of the most critical in how its going to run is what I've been told. this is just my theory dont bash me for it, if you want to post your way up Please do so, if you dont like my way state why, i find breaking a motor in the most controvercial part of building a motor, every one does it a different way and know one knows what the "best" way is.

Tires / What size tires and rims for ap
« on: December 17, 2011, 05:20:56 pm »
Hey guys. Should be getting my mowers from rooster soon. Just wondering what size tires and rims to use in ap? I'll most likely get alloy kart rims but not sure what width. Also walmart by my ladys house has 15x6.5x6 inch turf tires would the be legal and mount to 6 x 9 rims?

Chassis / F/X chassis
« on: May 29, 2011, 08:37:06 pm »
Hello guys, I built my C/P chassis in school and followed the rules... but I didn't find the rule the mower has to be 42" or longer unaltered wheel base till after the fact. So right now my chassis is legal for S/P and A/P, but I do not have a motor for eather of those classes. I do, however can get a gxv 340 honda from my cousin for free which is an OHV motor which would still put me in C/P. So what im wondering is can I make a custom chassis, kind of like Squidd did and put the tins from this chassis on it? It's a monkey wards chassis thats 39 inches long. Its a pan style chassis and i didn't build it the best I could od to time restraints. The rules on what can be built confuses me a little bit. Also I do realize that you can't race F/X as a rookie racer, so my local small engines guy is giving me an old snapper front motor lawn mower that I'm going to build propperly for C/P. thanks guys

Honda and Clone Engines / Gxv340 parts swap
« on: May 29, 2011, 08:28:40 pm »
Hey guys, my cousin has 2 gxv340's, he sadi he would give me one, So i read all i could and I know the v means verticle shaft. I also read that the Gx390 Billet fly wheel and rod will fit this motor, I'm wondering if thats correct and also I'm wondering if the blocks between the 340 and 390 are the same just the 390 has a larger bore? So wjhat im trying to figure out is could the 340 be bored to fit the 390 piston? thanks for the help guys.
