Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Motor issue

Started briggs single grass cutter and it ran for a few seconds spitting and sputtering then died.  When I tried to restart it the motor turned over really slow like battery was dead or starter was hot..  Charged over night and went to try it and is doing same thing.  If I pull spark plug it spins right over..  Any ideas..  Not familiar with Intek singles at all..

Coffee Shop / Mufflers (not exhaust)

I know I have read on here a few times about noise cancelling mufflers but I cant seem to locate it.  We have one of our local tracks that are possibly looking at running mufflers to keep the area neighbors happy. Even just knocking sound down just a little bit. Would really like to hear thoughts on this and ideas for a simple muffler that can be added and removed easily. I know mufflers are unheard of when it comes to racing but if it will help keep a track open then I would imagine we will do what we have to do.   Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I thought I had read somewhere that EC has or does cylinder sleeves..  Is that true or am I loosing my mind?  (Which is very possible)
If so any ideas on price?

Post Your Video / Mini Late crash at Phatbottom SC

Here is a video from a crash I had at Phatbottom.  Started out running really well and handling great.  As the laps went on it became really ill.  It wasnt until after that I realized I had just snugged up (And not tightened) right front after some adjustments. My right front heims had worked themselves loose and were getting ready to come off.  You can tell in the video..  I was unhurt and just had the wind knocked out of me.

Hey all I know I get on here every month with a "Have y'all ever seen this before?"  but I put together my motor before the race this past Saturday.  When I went out on the track for a warm up lap, I could tell something wasnt right and immediately pulled back off.  I looked at motor and saw oil was everywhere.  I took it apart tonight and saw this...  The entire #2 side was broken off the block.  Fortunately all internals were undamaged but block is trashed.  Any ideas on what caused this?

Hey guys I am having starting issues and idle issues with twin tillotsons on my Vanny. Was late to all three races this past weekend because I was having trouble getting engine to start..  Once motor is started and we are under yellow, I have to have one foot on brake and one on gas to keep it running..
Runs strong during race..  Just wish I could figure out why it is so hard to start and idle..  Any ideas?

Coffee Shop / USLMRA and Lowes Motor Speedway

Was very fortunate to get an invite from the USLMRA to run at Lowes Motor Speedway last night..  I just wanted to thank all the guys involved for a great evening of racing and memorable experience.  The mowers handled surprisingly well on the asphalt and the speeds were crazy.  I would recommend that anyone in the future that gets the opportunity take full advantage as it was a blast.  My hats off to the USLMRA and Pete Sullivan for a first class experience.

Decided to go up onto the flagstand and film the feature SS race last night at Phatbottom..  Didnt know that I was going to film one of the best races I have seen in a long time.  The finish was so close that there were some upset people at the track afterwards..  Congrats to Travis Phillips, Mark Ledford, Derrick Robinson and Josh Sexton for one heck of a race.  Interested to see what call you guys would have made..  Sorry for the shaky hand syndrome and poor filming but I found myself watching the race instead of the camera.  Please be adivised that the "D" word and the "S" word are heard in the video.

Two races in a row my flywheel has come loose and broke off top of crank shaft......   I am so frustrated! :bash:

just put flywheel on new crank.  Is it suppose to be flush?  I noticed a 1/8 gap as seen in picture.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Vanny Nikki carb question

A buddy brought over his Nikki carb off his Vanny and said it is very slow to idle back down after it is revved up. Says he can count to five before it idles down.  The springs close butterfly instantly but for some reason it is slow to idle back down..  Is it getting too much fuel?  It is the Nikki with the two jets that screw in the rear near bottom.

Coffee Shop / Fuel run help please...

Hey guys was trying to run two carburetors and after hooking everything up I am not getting fuel to the #2 carb and barely into #1.  Both fuel pumps are new and the lines are all hooked up correctly.  I have one fuel line coming off tank,into cut off switch, fuel filter and then into a T. Then two lines off the T run each line into a fuel pump and out to pulse and carbs.  The pulse lines are hooked into pulse nipples in the intakes.  Gas gets to about the fuel pump of #2.  Anybody have any advice on how to fix this or a better set up?

Coffee Shop / Wiring a high torque starter

Hey guys was wiring my new ride and when I hit the master power switch, everything started smoking and popping..  Do you have to run a selonoid?  I was told I could run one without.  I know this is beginner stuff and i dont know why i am having such a hard time..  Maybe i burnt up my starter..  What is the proper way to wire the high torque starter?  I don't know what I did wrong.
