Garden Tractor Pulling / Getting started-newbe here
« on: September 14, 2012, 08:22:38 pm »
I picked up an old wheel horse with the kohler engine all intact and running. It has the old k motor in it and would not take much to make a pulling tractor with. Have been looking for a place near me (Central Iowa) where IO could watch and join a club doing pulls.

Coffee Shop / Need advice on tractor selection
« on: August 22, 2012, 06:42:08 pm »
I have two riding lawn mowers and want to transform one of them into a good racer. First one is a Toro LX500 with a Kohler courage 22 twin that has a mechanical CVT transmission, the other is a John Deere L100 Brigs and Stratton 17hp with a variable transmission. trying to do some research on which tractor would be a great build and I have some understanding that the Toro with the CVT would be best. I want to pull as much power as possible out of one to race.

Coffee Shop / help needed on a wheelhorse
« on: August 05, 2012, 06:43:51 pm »
I researched the wheelhorse I just bought intending to race it and found some intresting things. It is a 1966 wheelhorse 1076 and valued between $600.00 to $800.00 and will only increase in time if I restore it. Restored the value jumps up greatly so do I use it for racing, tractor pulling or restore it and look for another lawn tractor to race?

Chassis / Help with set-up on an wheelhorse
« on: August 01, 2012, 09:44:33 pm »
I just bought me my first build, an old wheelhorse and was looking on where to start to begain my build. I was unloading it from the truck when it jumped the ramp and landed hard on the front-end snapping a tie rod end. Upon inspecing the broken wheel I noticed it was made from pot metal. So I need to build my front end first along with the frame. Any advice would help!
