Coffee Shop / Oppy charging circuit diode value
« on: June 11, 2012, 11:29:28 am »
Does anyone know the values of the diodes used in the wire harness to connect to a single wire stator on an opposed engine?  I am not sure if there is a replacement part number or I need to order them from an electronics supply house.

Thanks!

Post your Pics! / New mower for my son
« on: April 13, 2012, 11:45:48 pm »
I have been working on this mower little by little over the winter for my son.  I have pictures of me riding this mower with my grandfather when I was about a year old, so there is some history here.  The mower is a Stallion Twin 6.  Pretty cool little mower actually!

It is set up with a centrifugal clutch so my son does not have to work a clutch.  Has a Peerless transaxle in it so I can adjust the speeds.  Not planning on this going faster than his battery powered cars and tractors, but at least I will not have to constantly charge batteries.  There is plenty of room for expansion as he gets older and wants to go faster....

Just wanted to share what I have been working on with you guys......................

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Briggs 28 OHV Breaking up!
« on: June 05, 2010, 01:16:36 pm »
I am having some issues with my new motor.  It keeps breaking up on my after about 5000 RPM on long straights.  It cuts out like it is starving for fuel.  The motor has all the goodies on the inside.  The carb is an EC dominator plus that doesnt even have 2 races on it.  The motor runs great on short little tracks when you are not holding the throttle open for longer periods of time, but when I get on a long track i have issues.  Here is a picture of my set-up.

I do not have that filter and fuel shut-off in the fuel line anymore.

Here is what I have tried:
-Tuned the carb about 5 different times and I keep geting the same result.
-Replaced the coil
-Replaced the spark plug
-Cleaned the magnets on the flywheel
-Checked the valve lash
-Tried 3 different fuel filters
-Replaced all the fuel line
-Tried a brand new fuel pump

I am thinking there is something wrong with the carb, but I am looking for other suggestions.

Driveline / 700 Shift Keys
« on: May 13, 2010, 07:51:41 pm »
Have any of you guys gotten brand new shift keys that are "bad?"  I just dropped a completely rebuilt transmission in the mower and  at about a half of lap idling the shift keys snapped at the skinny part of the key.  Also took pretty good chuncks out of the shaft as well.  This is the tranny I ran all last season so I know there is nothing wrong with it.  They are Keys from EC which I believe are OEM parts.  Just curious if anyone has run into this issue.

Im at the cabin on my way to a race this weekend, and of course I forgot my spares at home. Nice luck huh?

Chassis / Nerf Bars
« on: April 29, 2010, 10:53:50 am »
ARMA RULES:  Footholds and seat side boosters must be minimally designed so as not to entangle body parts. Foot guards should be no higher than 4” from the bottom of the bar to the top and be flush with the bottom of the frame.  Bars should be 2” off of the rear tire.  With wheels turned to extreme position, there should be 2” of clearance between tire and bar.

I just want to make sure I am clear on this.  If I am making nerf bars, are they considered "foot guards"  as stated in the rules above?  So the total height of my nerf bars couldnt be any taller than 4"?  Or am I missing something here?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Crank Endplay
« on: March 24, 2010, 11:19:46 pm »
Is anyone running a single Briggs OHV with crank endplay more than the Briggs spec?  I believe the spec for the 28's is .023" max.  Would it be bad to run with an endplay between .025 and .030"?  Does briggs make shims to put between the counter weights and the timing gear to adjust the endplay?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / 28 OHV Seat Angles
« on: March 04, 2010, 07:52:23 am »
Can someone please confirm the seat angles for the 28 head?  I thought they were 31 and 46 but I just wanted to make sure.  I did a search but couldnt find it.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Intek Fuel Pump Issues
« on: October 28, 2009, 09:27:07 pm »
I just got done rebuilding an Intek twin for my grass cutter (actually snow blower).  It runs great, but the fuel pump is blowing fuel out of the little holes on the fuel pump.  What does that mean?  It is one of the round Mikuni pumps that takes a puls right off the valve cover.  I am thinking I need to replace the pump but do any of you have more ideas?  This is my first attempt at these Inteks.

Thanks in advance!

Chassis / NTN axle bearings
« on: October 15, 2009, 11:05:02 am »
Does anyone know if the 1.25" NTN axle bearings will fit in a pillow block?  I went to order the bearings from Comet today, and it says that the NTN's will not fit in their cassettes, which makes me wonder if they will fit in pillow blocks.

Thanks in advance!

Chassis / Rear Bearings?
« on: September 21, 2009, 10:28:01 am »
Is there really any difference between the NTN bearings which are $25 a pop, and the free spinning bearings that EC sells?  Does anyone have any experience with running both types?
