VLMRA races in eastern VA our closest local races are 3.5-4 hours from you.
Go to VLMRA.com to see last years schedule which should be similar
Closest are the ARMA races to you

Is your pulse hole in the manifold to large that can cause similar problems like you mention

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Piston top
« on: December 30, 2011, 12:55:33 am »
I have a 313777 that needs to stay stock
The piston in the book calls for #692271 then dicontinued and superseeds  to #697069 on the computer

The original piston in it was dished not flat
They did not have the 697069 in stock for me to see

Does anyone know if this is a flat top or dished just like the original

Thanks David

VA (VLMRA) has 6
4 raced the first race and I think the class is going to do well
I race the class and very enjoyable but much more tiring and harder to drive than it was as a sportsman
One less mowchine I have do much maintenance on or deal with the motor though

Check and make sure you are setting your valves correctly

My 31 stud bolt nut broke once and it would not rev up
The valve clearance had opened way up

I don't over lap the angle I just butt it, I  do a double V- weld on the back side which helps with clearance
and I weld the heck out of the bolt (axle) and have never drilled it through from the inside

I don't know about All VA Tech people being smart because if this one was smarter
he wouldn't be looking at Old Goat's back so much !!!!!

Your 2 pieces of angle will work and is all I have used for the last 5 years
It holds up very well
I weld the together on the back side after drilling then weld the bolt on the front then weld the rest of the outside
I have never needed a plate to weld the Bolt to

I usually drill my holes in the angle before I cut the pieces so it makes it easier to hold

You may try it without the fuel pump

Chassis / Re: ? about mower deck

I only use deck pieces welded to the running boards on my Super Stock
That way it is easier to work under the mower

I used the steel bushings last year on one of my 700 trannys
I will never do it again
It made it through a 20 plus race season but left steel on the shaft like a crank gets when a rod locks to it
I was able to get most of it off but the shaft is permanetly damaged
