Title: Greetings from Upstate NY!
Post by: RFMotorsports on November 14, 2013, 09:22:29 am
Hey all! Just introducing myself. Been perusing the boards and decided to join. Lots of great valuable info here! RFM (Rakoske Family Motorsports) is going into our first year of lawn mower racing next year. We are going to be racing down at the local track in the "Big Block Stock" class. 28CI motor, 3800RPM limit, etc. As a newbie to this form of motorsport, I obviously have a ton of questions. The search function is my friend   Currently have the old Sears and Roebuck "Companion" (MID?) torn down to the frame. Working on swapping the Peerless 900 series that came with it for a 600 series that I had in a parts tractor in the garage, and on the hunt for a motor. Looking forward to this new adventure!

Hope to see you come out and check some ARMA racing. There will be a lot of ARMA racing in the New England and PA area this summer. Be sure to read up on rules if you plan to travel. Nothing worse then building something that only works at one track and then the owner decides to stop racing and you have no place to go after with what you built. Looking like we will be getting a build clinic together in the PA area sometime soon also, stay tuned.

Steve we don't do enough to insure the future of this sport. So if I got to get build clinics outside my area so we can get new guys involved then it must be done. I really wish that more clubs and some of the old timers that have brought this sport to where it is today would step up and do more clinics and promoting Mower racing it would make it easier on everyone if everybody did just a little parts of the promotion work that mower racing needs. Billy is being taken care of just fine. LOL

Racing in Esperance NY with the CDLMRO, a USLMRA affiliate. No plans to travel this year. Get our feet wet and see what happens. Would love to try and make it to a build clinic!
