Coffee Shop / Carrier performance
« on: January 02, 2018, 12:19:15 am »
In attempt to attract more people to heymow I have decided to make a thread specifically for Carrier Performance. We are a lawn mower racing superstore. A one stop shop, carrierperformance.net . We already post all this stuff on social media but heymow is a greatly neglected now a days. It is a great source of info and needs to be used more. So this is our attempt to help the community and especially the new guys who have questions and need parts. Happy new year to all!

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Carrier performance new website!
« on: February 21, 2017, 07:51:53 pm »
After a lot of thinking we have decided to make a website to buy high performance V twin stuff. No one sells stuff to help people build national competitive engines so we decided to offer high Horsepower parts. Here is our new website, browse our parts and tell your friends :) check in often we will constantly be adding new parts to the site.  If the moderators or website owner could add this to the links page that would be great thanks :)

Just a question but what is the ideal flywheel timing advance on the vanguard twins? and what is the maximum advance before the motor runs rough?

Post your Pics! / A new canadian fxt style mowchine (pro-modified)
« on: July 14, 2014, 08:51:11 pm »
Hi guys, I am currently in the works of building an fxt style machine. Here in quebec its the pro modified class. I will be running an 18hp horizontal vanguard, feel free to guide me towords the right choices for the engine. I am a briggs master service technician and have been building race engines for many years but these engines have been using mostly stock parts, so i am new to a complete outlaw engine. Here is the chassis so far everything is tack welded and nothing finalized, its a spare time project since i am currently deep into my race season :P All comments and advice is welcome! Want to make the best machine possible :) aiming for 250lbs or less and the egine hase to have minimum 30-35 hp

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / shaving stock pistons
« on: June 09, 2014, 09:24:32 pm »
Hi I know I have seen it before but I can't find it, when shaving the pistons for long rods what's a good thickness left between the compression ring and the top of the piston? My compression ring is .045 and I have .055 left to the top of the piston, is this okay?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Intek 31 cube oil overflow
« on: July 10, 2013, 05:31:36 pm »
Any advice would help a lot here since i havent had this probleme yet  Basically i have a briggs 31 cube without any performance parts but built with old school tricks. So i have not had an intek that had oil overflow out of the breather but this one does a lot. I currently have a catch can connected to a tube that runs to the stock breather. The problem is that my catch can filled up to the point of spewing everywhere during a ten lap race. I was wondering first of all if this is normal since i know many of you do run catch cans, secondly what the best catch can setup would be, thirdly, whether or not i should remove the steel flap in the breather and lastly if i should run a return line back into the block or a ideal location. Thanks in advance  :)

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / G-Team built oppy carb
« on: July 02, 2013, 07:11:17 pm »
This weekend I tried out my mower.. I came to realise that after two laps the engine would run out of fuel and sputter to a stop. I let it sit for thirty seconds and it starts up fine and runs another two laps until it runs out of fuel. My impression is that the inlet of the carb is too small. My current setup is a 31ci single intek that's not built. The carburetor is an oppy carburetor built by G-team that the stock fuel pump has been bypassed for the fuel to enter directly into the bowl. I am currently running a gravity feed system and i know that's not the problem since it worked great this winter with another carb  , what I was wonder was if the entrance of the carb for the fuel is too small and if so would adding a mikuni vacume pump solve the problem? Anyone already had this problem? Any help would be great I race this weekend..  :)
