The block is oringed. I used some copper rtv gasket sealer this time and it worked only raced 2 times since we put it back together but it seems to be working

Timing and compression. Are what depend on what fuel is needed you need to know exactly what you have. Anything over 11:1 compression and 32 degrees timing should be run on race fuel and the more of the two you have the higher octane you will need. You would rather have more octane and not need it than not enough and cause detonation

Alright I run copper gaskets on one of my vtwins the block is oringed but the thing is every couple races oil will start leaking from the gaskets? My question is what is the best thing to use to seal the gaskets to the block and heads

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: Oil pump mod engine?
« on: January 19, 2014, 07:52:40 pm »
I know the single Briggs aren't pressure lube but they do circulate the oil. 20 psi at idle warm and 45psi at 3500rpm. I put a magnet on filter. Do you think this would help keep cleaner, longer cylinder life and less chances of getting scratches on cylinder wall due to break in debris ? I break in on bench , drain oil, drop sump and clean.i change oil every race day but any debris in there don't all come out because of the fins in pan , but the oil circuiting the oil would help right? Thanks for your input. Have any of you blown a pump out of these engines? Oil pump or no oil pump .
Owen
i have a 31 non Avs engine with a oil pump and filter not sure what you mean by not being pressure lubed but mine has a oil pump just like my intek twin but there is also a oil slinger. Is this what your talking about it must be semi pressure lubed or something like that

So .060 would be reasonable with a stock cam and shimmed springs. Would just give it a little more bite?

What's a reasonable amount to shave the head on a ohv single without having to change pushrod length?

I went straight from a stock class high rider to being on a supersportsman/bp mower the following year and let me tell you it was a huge jump totally different ball game and now last year I had the same mower but with double the hp as the year before and it was a huge jump also but I did it it took time and a lot of practice and I still don't have it down to a tee yet and I'm going on my third year in that class. Just saying no one is trying to push someone away. Just not wanting to see anyone hurt. My first year in that class I was flipped off my miter and through at least 10 feet in the air and on my chest and it knocked me out could have been worse and the bad thing was is it wasn't even my fault I was side by side with someone and he got loose and went sideways and his mower come under my mower and this was at 4" ride height things just happen and if your not used to the mower and someone slips up you can be the one injured that's all that's being said

I like the fact it had forged rods. But the weight makes me think it would be too heavy to use for racing
