Burwell555 & GRUBDIGGER - Couldn't I keep it a transaxle or is that frowned upon?

If it's a Kawasaki FB540 it's 17hp.
yeah - my bad, I'm assuming I pulled that .5 out of the air for no apparent reason whatsoever lol - thanks for the clarification.

Transaxle has transmission and rear axle combined into one unit. Live axle uses a tranny separate from the rear axle and most of the time uses a chain to drive it.
Oh - it's a transaxle then :)

Personally, I would say GP/ModXR/CPR whatever its called.

As for lowering it to 4 inches, what are you using for tires, wheels, transaxle or live axle?? I have a 180 and posted build pics of the first edition of it about 2 years ago. Should still be in this section. But my latest and greatest, Im keeping to myself.
What do you have in mind for frame bracing? So far it looks like your just getting it disassembled too start on it.
Well, I was thinking on using two sets of the front tires from a regular mower. Sorry, I know how things work, not what they're called most of the time = transaxle or live axle - what's the difference?
I can tell you one thing, make sure you brace the top of the channels on both sides at the top where it's notched. I found out the hard way and lost a good mower due to not bracing it there. Or at least that's where mine bent after a nasty crash.
so brace the frame itself?

Which class does everyone think I would be better suited in, the IMOW or the G/P since I keep seeing it pop up?

Here are some more pictures of the new updates.

Camera lost the battery - looking for it.
Quick Question: What's the best way to lower the frame down to the 4" limit?

On photobucket use the "IMG  thumb"

That way you get a small picture that makes the pages load alot faster, and we can click on them to get larger version and see more detail!

Oh Gotcha - never used photobucket very much. Thanks Rooster

And use the shortest tire you will run. If you build it to turf masters, turf-pros will make you short!
Oh my... why isn't everything easy?
HEY!!
We are not here to teach people how to cheat!
And besides that...
....quit giving my secrets away!  LOL

when I built my sportsman, I set the frame on 2 pieces of 4" blocking.  Then when I fabbed everything up, i knew it was always at the right height.

That's what Drew Maurice was telling me at the US Sam Rogers a few weeks ago. Thanks for the confirmation :)

You want general info then call the man in charge Aaron he can tell you anything you want to know 443-677-4878

I guess I'm of a different mindset. I'm not going to call the author to ask him what the book is about, I'll read the flaps and the back summary. Bash me if you want, but that's me.
