I have used the stens and other brand parts several times with no problems. My engine machine shop gets me the parts and bores the cylinder to match. No problems in the last 10 years using the stuff.

I bought a predator 8hp over the 4 of july and used a 20% off coupon and got it for 175.00. if you read the small print on the coupon it says not valid for predator products but the cashier at our local store always scans it and it always works. I also have purchased the v twin with a coupon and got it for $549.00. I put it on a toro z master and it working great.

Do you want to keep the trans axle or swap it to a kart axle? (the best thing to do in my opinion).
If you keep the tranaxle you will need a jack shaft set up or flip the trans axle over. you will also want to put a stright axle in it also. I have done both and I liked the flipped better. Search a lot there are builds of the doing all 3 set ups.

E3 plugs are junk IMO... had a motor running them once that would hardly start and after i put the normal plugs back in it ran fine./quote]
I agree I have them brought in to the shop all the time for no starts or hard starts. Change them out all is good. Customers really like to here the problem is your E3 plug is junk.

I'm looking for some one in the Racine Wi area that would be willing to do a favor for another lawn mower racer.
I'm looking to buy a truck that is for sale at a local dealer and would like some one to do a drive by and scope it out and test drive it. I have spoke with the dealer and he has sent me extra pictures and it looks good. But before I make the 8 hr round trip drive I would like some one with an unbiased opinion look at it
If someone could do this please PM me and I will give you the details
It would need to be done this week as I plan on making the trip Saturday the 15th
Thanks Joe

Stroker, The dealership will always want someone to stay long term it is costly to hire someone just to have them quit. You say you want to open your own shop which I think is a great idea and you should do it. I have had my own shop and it was the best job I ever had. I worked more hours for less pay but it was mine and I loved doing it. I have worked for several dealerships (Heavy Equipment) and I will tell you this they all wanted someone for the long term. I never quit any of them but I also never worked more than 8 years at one. So take my advice as you want but do what works for you. Don't worry about the dealership they can take care of themselves. If I were in your shoes and know what I know I would write down a plan for when I'm opening. If it's more than a year down the road then I would work for the dealership and use that time to gain more knowledge about running the shop. If it"s only a few months I would just start it now on the side and start building the customer base. I wise man told me 2 thing when I started my shop. 1 don't go into debt to do it, debt = risk. and 2 do a business plan because a business with out a plan is a plan to fail.
Good luck
Joe

The friction drive is fine if your only cutting grass. Snapper used them with v twin's in RER's for years and they held up fine.

Driveline / Re: how much to lower for flipped transaxle
« on: October 07, 2013, 03:40:28 pm »
greasemonkey,
Mount your wheels and tires you intend on running, mount your pulley to the input, flip transaxle and block up so the pulley is level. read your rules for frame height, cut blocks to correct frame height, lower frame over transaxle and cut out frame until it sits in the blocks at the desired height. Caution you may want to cut your frame from the top down depending on what frame your using. I did this on my murray and jd111 but the craftsman I went from the bottom up.

Hmmm..  Down for a roman candle war?  I have extra safety glasses and gloves from work.  >:D
Work? You mean you finely went back to work, won't that cut in to your mower racing. How on earth are you finding time for work with traveling to every national race in the country.
Just kidding Alex, I hope to see ya at some races this year.

Propane tanks are not internally lined.  They will rust from the inside out.  They can become very dangerous

Air tanks are not lined and can rust out also. I had one blow up on me while filling it it only had about 60PSI when it blew. It about took my head off. It hit the roof inside the shop. I have not liked using them since. I don't trust any thing with PSI. I'm a kinda  jumpy around things that go boom.
