Post by: Hondo_k19 on April 28, 2014, 04:39:21 pm
Hello my name is Miguel Hernandez and I am from Lewisville, Tx. My father in-law races mowers in Virginia. Looking at all of his mowers got me interested and i am now looking at building one to race in the fall. I am searching craigslist for a mower and so far i have narrowed it out to two can you guys help me deside on which one? Please help me guys!

If these were my only 2 choices I would pick the green one.

What class are you building and to who's rules? You can make any mower into a racer. Pick one you like the look of, that you think is cool. :) It looks like the red mower has a veri-drive and will not work for going fast. The green mower looks like it's got a shiftable transaxle and is better. If you can find a chain drive mower your way ahead . Peerless 700 or peerless 400. I have not been up close to any of those mowers , but someone might chime in who has.

Id go with the green Rally mower. Its an AYP frame. They are easy to build and lots of sheetmetal can be found. I prefer an AYP chassis after all that I've built in the past.

I know where you can get a C/P that is already built and ready to race.  Just posted it in the For Sale section.  $1800 and you are ready to be competitive.  Located it Kingsland, Texas, so not very far from you.  By the way, it is the 2011, 2013, and 2014 points champion C/P in the LSMRA.
