Is the pully cast iron or cast aluminum? don't use the aluminum ones, they are not rated for enough HP. and will explode!

Wall Mart, on the west coast, doesn't carry Wall Mart brand synthetic anymore. So I use Car Quest brand and change every race.

Take the starter apart, clean the commentater with emery cloth where the brushes ride, clean the groves between the segments and lube the bushings is all it usually takes.

Sounds like it would be cheaper to find a good used block. There are quite a few around!

When you order them, if you are going to use lawnmower wheels and tires, make sure to tell him you need 5 inch long spindle bolts, because thats what it takes.

This would be a good way to go [Azusa spindles as listed above. But this is using a Grade 8 bolts for the spindle.
G-Team Price - $15 each ] That is from the GTEAM website, you can also tell don how long you want the spindle bolts. he is real reasonable for shipping also, just my oppinion

1/4" is enough, 5/16" if you want to go over board. Adams old mower is UGLY, but it is pretty fast, and could be a real nice ride if fixed up! I'm just trying to get mine to where I can push it around the shop sense Lanty wrecked it.

If you mean slipping, like jumping out of gear under power. check the shift keys to see if they are rounded on the tips at all, it doesn't take much at all!

The I/C would be your best choice if you have to stay stock, providing the bore is ok. The powerbuilt is the best choice if you want to build a 31 cid motor, the aluminum bore is easier to machine when you resleave the cylinder.
