Briggs OHV & Vanguard / govenor/throttle problem

so i got my throttle hooked up today and it worked great with the engine off but when i tried it with the engine running the govenor kept it at min. throttle no matter what i did. so i have no throttle control at all. i know the governor is supposed to keep it under a certain RPM but am i really maxing out at min throttle?

Driveline / Clutch question

Alright so i was wondering if this setup will work. i have the engine pulley then a idler pulley and then the clutch pulley. basically i was wondering if the clutch would work right with the idler pulley in between the engine pulley and the clutch or should i move the idler pulley to the other side of the clutch. in between the trans pulley and the clutch.

i also have to do the belt guides. should i do 3 on the engine pulley? one the front and 1 on each side. where else do i need guides?

Will a CVT, snowmobile clutch, work on its side? I'm wondering if it would work properly if ran on a vertical shaft engine to the trans axle.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Governor and return spring

i have a 18.5 v twin and im trying to put on the return spring for the throttle but all the mechanics of the governor is keeping it from closing automatically. its not very dirty but would it help to clean it up and oil moving parts and the governor throttle assy? i plan on adding a second second spring anyway just wondering if there is something im missing that would help.

so... i compression checked my v twin and one side is 120psi and the other side is 140psi. im assuming that that is bad cuz of the 20psi difference and was wondering how to fix it?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Cylinder not firing

Hi I have a 18.5 v twin intec and it's not running good. It will stay running but one cylinder will only fire every once in a while. I switched the spark plugs to see if that was the problem but it's still the same cylinder and both sides are sparking. If I cover the air intake and adjust my hand the bad one will fire more often but only when I get it just right. Then when I take it off it will go waaaaaahhh and then die.

Any suggestions?

Im trying to get new pulleys for my mower build and im trying to get the right ones. On my engine the output shaft is the one that has a keyway and the pulley has the key and from what iv seen the other mowers are the other way around. is this true or am i just crazy?

So... I'm getting new pulleys and I'm wondering what the belt size should be... If I had a 3 inch pulley and a 9 inch pulley origonaly and I change from the 9 to a 6 will I have to get a belt that's 1 and a half inches shorter or 3 inches shorter than the origanal one?

Hi, i have a 18.5 hp intek b&s. it takes about 10 tries to get it started and when it does it wont stay running.. also it will die if i dont have the throttle on full. any advice?
