Ya, i looked it up and it is. I guess thats good because it going to be an offroad mower.. maybe more torque?? 
I wonder if all the parts from a reg series 600 are interchangeable..

Got this from my grandfathers yard. Not to bad of shape, but there is something i am concerned about. The axle shaft is like reamed out. I got a picture of it, should i buy a new one? Here is a picture of what i am talking about.
Also, i think its a peerless 601-020 like the tag says but when i go to the parts manual its just 600-601.. someone help me out. Here is a pic of that-

I saw that, shoulda bought it. All i need is the brass busing that goes in the axle housing at the end of the shafts..
