OK,  I've got another Question,

What are the tollerances for the end float an the crankshaft  taking into consideration that I have a roller bearing in the cover plate with shims. The Engine will be running round about 8000 rpm :D

Kohler Engines / Crankshaft Throw
« on: October 10, 2016, 05:19:33 am »

Hi,
I'd have though this Question would have been asked along time ago but I could find it in the past post's  :bash:

Is there a different Throw between the 18hp, 20hp, 22hp, 25hp, 27hp and the 30hp Crankshafts, or can I for example fit a 18hp crank in a 30hp Block and not worry that the Piston will not reach the top of the bore.

Kohler Engines / Kohler High Torque Starter.

 Hi,

I've got a Kohler 25HP that's got over 16 bar compression ratio, where can I get a "High Torque Starter" that fits this engine?

or is the Denso 12v 0.6kw with 9 teeth the up-rated version??

would be great if I could get a quick answer :D :D :D

Kohler Engines / Interchangable crankshafts??
« on: February 05, 2014, 08:21:53 am »

Hi,  I've looked thro' the History of post's here and not found this subject. :(

Nearly everybody says the CV/CH 25,27 and 30 HP crankshafts are interchangeable. I bought one with a smaller PTO shaft size, matched them up and my original shaft has a small sholder next to the camshaft drive cog? This fits into a very flat bearing which is also shimmed before it then fits into the block side coverplate.
To come around this problem do I just need to buy another side plate, or have a ring made to fit the crankshaft??

   Open to any surrgestions, :D

By the way the 2nd Generation has also a cam with two lobes and a plastic cam wheel, togeather with the decompression bits :D
Sometimes it comes in handy that they are made out of plastic because when something gives then the cam and not the block

 Hi,

This problem from tuning the New Generation 630, 660 and 690 from Honda is not new to us either over here. :bash:

There are afew teams that have tuned the GX690 and one great problem is that the heads are incorporated with the bore
Therefore bigger Valves is virtually impossible. I my self have not realy looked indepth into the new engines, but what I do know is the main issue to tuning this type of engine is done with Digital Ignition and new programing of it!!

I'll do a bit of research in the winter months and post the results  ;)

Jo,.. Thanks, ;)

In the mean time I have done a bit of research on this matter and found out quite afew interesting things out about the
differences between the 620, 670 and their clones 8)

The future doesn't look too bad after all :woohoo:
Cheers again Nod :)
