Ok thanks I just bought some gears from eBay I think I will try that for now and slot the starter. I noticed some starters have thicker mounts so I might have to shim. Thanks for all the info.

With a 8hp briggs flathead with a arc flywheel what starter is everyone useing? Can u use a bigger starter? Is the flywheel the same pitch as the 12hp? I herd the flywheels can be hard on plastic starter gears! Thanks

I think to grow your membership, you are on the wright track by trying to get a home track a place to have races! lets face it we build these mowers to run not sit in the trailer or garage. the better you scedual the more people will come. I know their is some races were you get a good showing (fawn grove) being close to other clubs if you dont have a good scedual peple are going to migrate their. their is a lot of ways people can get started any racer will help as much as posible. no racing is cheap but lawnmower racing you can go from mild to wild! people has to rember we are doing it for fun a trophy! keep it simple keep it a family thing! you want it were some one can build a mower to start out and run it. the he or she wants to go up they can reuse their chasie and change motors to move up classes that keeps the price down and makes it were people can start from the bottom and work their way up! it you are trying to make classes to start low and can work up the the fx if disired i think it could be a good ideal but keep it so the casie can be used up throu! good luck with your membership!
